Oh dear, the aliens are invading, sky's falling. I have the red/yellow lantana and I love it. I've had it near my front entrance right next to a Meyer lemon tree and it has been an awesome plant for me. I prune it into a small bush when it starts wanting to spread. I rarely ever water it, but it looks beautiful especially now. I have not seen it try to spread/multiply or invade anything. A couple of winters ago, it got hurt by the frost and I chopped it down to the ground. It came back and again I'm training it into the shape I want. I've seen the yellow lantanas, but I don't like the way they look, and I don't like the light purple ones either... there's just something about their growth pattern that I don't like (too airy) and I like a more compact bush. Also one thing to know is that if you have pets or livestock (generally animals know not to eat toxic stuff, but some of them can be rather dumb). Lantana is toxic to poultry (i have chickens). I usually feed my chickens all kinds of grass, weed and other garden trimmings, but definitely not the lantana or Canna lilly trimmings.

Abby There are so many ppl that come here for help with succulents in terrariums, if I didn't know anything at all about succulents I would start wondering... Rocks in the bottom give false impression that there is drainage - but water is staying in there, so where is the drainage? Succulents grow naturally in rocky, gritty media. Areas that are mostly sunny, with occasional good rainfall. One can imagine how well water drains away. It doesn't stay sitting just below, keeping roots wet. There is no fine soil either. And the air circulation is very good. You will not get that in a terrarium - they tend to be quite often at least partially enclosed. Recurving sides of the bowl will impair the air circulation too. They will also contribute to more humidity that succulents do not like. Plants will not die immediately. But they will slowly decline. If one likes terrariums (and they could be very beautiful), they should use plants suitable to those growing conditions. There are many plants that do, but not succulents. If one has to have succulent terrarium and doesn't care about disposing of dead plants at some point - they will work... Soil sold in bags as specific Cactus&Succulent soil, is unfortunately not very well draining even if advertised as such. It very often contains too much peat and it is quite fine. Ppl that use it usually add lots of perlite or pumice, mixing them at min 50/50 ratio. Many of us don't, we use much grittier mix. Look at some of the plants growing in this kind of gritty mix - you'll never get that kind of plants in terrarium and/or fine, slow draining soil. I use grit or pea gravel or sometimes larger rocks as top dressing on all my succulents. I don't have problem with water retention at all, but all my succulents are potted in a mix of grit+sifted perlite (I would use pumice instead if it was available) + some turface.
