The strangest darn thing just happened. I posted a message to this thread and when I hit submit it put it in the kitchen forum thread that you posted on the same subject. I know I was not in the kitchen forum. That is weird.

Hi Andy, I have seen some small bulbs for sale...seedlings, but I have never seen any large flowering size ones sold here in the U.S. I'd be interested in hearing if they are available here in the U.S. This was awfully expensive to import, but well worth it to have something so unusual in my collection. Blanca, thanks so much for the common name of this beauty as this sort of info is always interesting!! These are very unusual bulbs and when I first got it I assumed the "hairy" tunic should be above ground, but Charles at Penroc told me to plant with the bulb neck at the soil surface so I went with that and since then another grower gave me the same info. Thank goodness for the help of expert growers on the internet to help people like me out when I get a new plant :o) Dan

I agree with that being a great story! The other day I was talking with a friend about some of my already-made TKO purchases as well as my hope-to-be realized big ideas for making my dream kitchen. After listening to me a bit, she asked me with a tone of great incredulity: WHY??? Having had similar conversations with other non-TKO friends, I decided to pull the plug and answered, simply: "Because I want it!" That not only ended the probing, but it also left me feeling a tad smug. Those four little words served me with the best rationalization and easiest cognitive dissonance of all!

I used the regular ones, not the "High Brightness" ones, which were quite a bit more $$ and I am really happy with these. I seriously think the High Brightness ones would be overkill for UCL. You could dim them but why pay for more brightness just to dim them? I dim the ones I have at night. Someone on another thread claimed their LED lights lost their brightness after 6 months. I would be so upset if that happens, after paying nearly $500! But I thought it possibly had to do with their power supply going bad, I don't know tho. Here's the link again to the lights I have... I have polished Absolute Black Premium in a kitchen that also gets a lot of light (western exposure w/7' bay window in kitchen & 6' window in DR). The only time dust is an issue is if the counters aren't wiped down at least once a day. We wipe them all down nightly so we do not have a dust "problem". It sounds like you will also be wiping your counters daily... As to fingerprints, they have not been a problem either. I won't say there aren't any, but I have not noticed them. Ubatuba has more movement than my AB, so you will have even less "issues"! Oh, and I've never heard of Ubatuba changing colors over time...but since I've never had it I can't say it does/does not based on first-hand experience.

The same thing happened to me! I knew darn well I wasn't in the kitchen forum but that's where my response ended up. Very strange.

First of all, of course we're interested to see it!

2) Oh-la-lah! it's gorgeous! It's so exciting when you get big pieces of the puzzle into place, isn't it?

3) Five year olds know more than I do about technology but my guess is that Brutuses & Ingrid were viewing the pics in the link & posted their comments and since the pics were in the kitchen forum their message posted there. But I suppose I'll find out if that wasn't it when I hit submit.

Love it! You cabs are the basically same color as mine, and if I could have afforded grante, that's exactly what I would have picked. :) Instead, I got laminate that looks very close to it.

Are you painting? I did and used SW Svelte Sage and love it.

Thanks everyone! We're liking it a lot. The photos don't capture the depth of the colors and patterns. There are browns, grays, greens, and flecks of mica in it.

straitlover, something like the Svelte Sage would be a good candidate for when we finally paint. I want to take a look at RH Silver Sage, too (probably similar).
