Need some good thoughts.

I don't post much, but We need prayers and good thoughts for our son Ron,

He was just diagnosed with lung cancer today..any extra prayers you have would be appreciated.

Thanks guys :) really appreciate the good thoughts. Actually Maggie, I'm in radio, and we do talk about it a little on the air, the guy I do the morning show with is a big animal lover, so we do a lot of dog and cat stories etc..What I really want to do is get with my primary vet, I haven't really talked to him since the initial rupture...I know that he is inclined to reccomend euthanasia for these type cancers :( as they are so aggressive. I just want to show him Bob, and offer my number to anyone contemplating what direction they want to go in. I have no regrets on what we did with Bob. He really suffered no ill effects to speak of from the treatment...His quality of life is excellent at the moment...I am also thinking about starting up a message board for this type of thing. I joined a cancer group on yahoo, but they were sooooo restrictive, and moderated everything, drove me nuts. Anyway I may have to look into that. Thanks again for all the well wishes, I can't tell you how grateful I am that he is doing so well, everyday when we go for our walks in the pasture, I see him galloping ahead of me:) I raise my head and say a little thank you :).

I was just thinking about statistical data yesterday and how it can be valid, but totally misleading by its interpretation or context. There are far too many assumptions being made in the name of science by accepting somebody else's interpretations without questioning it. What makes people obese? With few exceptions one gets fat by taking in more calories than they are able to burn off. It's pretty dam*ed simple. I think what got me started on it was something my daughter shared with me. She was reading labels at the market on the yogurt containers. Nice healthy food? Sure. But, take a closer look at those new fruit enchanced ones. Look at the FRUCTOSE added, IOW corn sirups. It has even found it's way as an additive in yogurt. Now, you can buy plain yogurt and add your own fresh and wholesome fruit but that takes a little effort. It's in some juices. I found it in cranberry juice cocktail last week. So, the health benefits I would obtain from consuming the juice are negated by also consuming the corn sugars. Please folks, just take the time for one week to read every label on every food you purchase and consume. It's an eye opener. As for soft drinks? I keep some on hand, but to me they are a "treat" to be consumed as such. I would never even consider that they are a necessary part of of anybody's daily diet, least of all a child's. They consist mostly of sugar and contain caffiene. Add to this that they are rarely served in restaurants in normal serving sizes. What ever happend to the eight ounce glass? The typical serving at fast food joints are now a twenty one ounce mug. Once in awhile, this isn't going to make or break a waistline. But consumed on a regular basis, as a nation we are killing our children with it. Please look at the new statistics for type II diabetes. It's now becoming a childhood disease. God help us.

Lorax, Did you get rain last night? Finally some sprinkles here on Merritt Island. Not nearly enough to make my plants perk up though. I'm getting tired of dragging the hose or homer buckets all over the yard to water everything. I feel like we live in the dust(sand) bowl. For the last 4 weeks, on my way home from work in Orlando it rains on me until I get to the 528/520 exit and mysteriously it stops. So frustrating! I'm leaving my car windows down and getting in the pool so I can bring on the rain JuJu. Hopefully today it will work. The clouds look promising.

Toni, how scary. I'm glad you were able to help poor little Lexi, she was probably more frightened than you. Puppies just have to snoop and perhaps she spotted the chunk of dog food and just wanted to be like the big dog and woof it down. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and Ron. I have a couple of friends who beat this cancer successfully and one is at least a 20 year survivor now....I've lost count.

Please be optimistic because Lung Cancer isn't the death sentence it once was. I am a getting close to the three survival mark and I have so many friends who are survivors. Sending lots of good thoughts.
