What's for dinner Saturday?

It sure is windy today. But the temperature is in the 80's so we're enjoying it while we can. Rain and cold front coming through tonight and will only be in the 60's for a high tomorrow.

Tonight we're have Nita's recipe for beef and broccoli stir-fry. I've been meaning to try it for some time, so tonight's the night.

Me, along with everybody and their brother, decided to go to Nikki's by the Farner's Market, and at the same time.

They are such a popular restaurant they have those (sp) turn isles, and today you had to go up and down 3 to get to the food line.

Enough said.

Per usual: smoked sausage and sauerkraut and of course, 7 layer salad. And fresh out of the oven cornbread muffin.

Quickly buttered and consummed before I ate anything else.

Pizza. Half pepperoni & half extra cheese.....fresh baked from Charlies Pizzeria.

Holy smokes Raven!!! I get bronchitis EVERY time, I don't get just a cold. The coughing hurts like hell, and I get headaches from coughing, and my head feels like it's going to pop off. So I get to the doctor as soon as I can. You must be in total agony! I made the overnight breakfast casserole for myself. Hubby is not an egg-eater, but he thought it looked really good. He had some, and loved it. Egg isn't the main focus, the bread, sausage/ham is. He finished it off for dinner with some corn, and I had leftover ham, potatoes and corn.

No dinner tonight. We went to a birthday brunch, ate too much, and have been dragging around all day. Neither one of us are used to eating heavily at 10:30 in the morning. Left there and went to Costco since we were close, Fred Meyer (there isn't one here locally) then home and had company for a while. Brunch was at a casino. The food is good, I had bacon and tomato omelet, more. And I did gamble a little before we left. I had almost lost my $20, won it back so played some more (slots) and that time I did lose it. DH lost his $5 on a penny machine and quit :) We're not gamblers, and I must say, its a lot more fun when I can break even or win a little. My SIL had begun with $200 and was up to almost $700 in winnings when we left, she has more disposable income than I feel I do.

Glenda, I've been in restaurants before when the tour bus pulls in. It's a madhouse trying to get everyone's order and food to them in a timely manner. I sure feel sorry for those waitresses/waiters, and hope the get nice tips. Shirley, I need to do that, too. I haven't found a new cleaning service yet, so I'm trying to do just the basics. Enough to keep the health dept. away :-) You had a great-sounding dinner, BTW! Sweet Betsy, do you put beans in your chili? I used to but one day I didn't have any and I never went back to adding them. Orchidllauraga, I just love Stouffer's lasagna. I bought one because I'd heard they were good and swore I'd never make my own again. The LSU/Bama game is probably the game of the year. Sorry, but don't count on LSU winning. Alabama is on like a 5 or 6 year roll! Seagrass, LOL! But that really is a hubby loving meal. I wouldn't mind it myself. Marilyn, beware! We built a huge garage/workshop/man cave when we lived in OT. It took Harry about one week to fill it up until there was no longer room for the car. He even built a loft to hold the spill over. All that stuff had been lurking in the attic. You're nice to fix him his favorites. That happens to be MY favorite, too :-) In fact, that's what I requested every year for my birthday meal (only we call them noodles). Sue, you sure can't beat the price of that meal. I'd sure love a piece of that pie! Kittiemom, I haven't made black bean soup over rice for many years. Don't know why other than the fact my recipe is loaded with bacon. But it's sooo good! Bet it was good! Geez, Mary. You cleaned your house AND made a yummy dinner! You surely will sleep well tonight. Pam, oh boo! I'm sorry your GS's team lost. Glad you weren't cold, though. Patti, that sounds delicious. I didn't get my share of cookout food this summer, darn it! Bengardening, what a fun evening. Hope the evening is a success for the firemen and hope you win some big bucks!! Raven, now you know how to enjoy watching a football game, girl! Those mushrooms sound awesome.

Mary, Mary, Mary. What are we going to do with you? Hope you don't have a setback. Remember, you sure don't want to have that surgery a third time! Angelaid, I sure envy you your vacation. Hope you have a wonderful time. Nosy question--if you're going to Hawaii, whose going to eat all that food? Rhizo, I sure do love shrimp and grits. I want to thank you for your concern regarding my liquid diet. Both Boost and the Special K protein shakes are loaded with vitamins and minerals. I drink on an average of three a day along with soup and G2-type drinks. The doctors aren't concerned--as long as I'm gaining a little weight. Sue, I know you'll have a great birthday dinner for Amber. I can't wait to hear what all you made. Have a great day!

After I got out of work I went grocery shopping and then stopped at the local chinese restaurant and picked up a combo plate of egg roll, chicken fingers, lobster sauce and some pork fried rice..It was so good, loved it.
Now I could take a nap.

Braised short ribs. They look yummy. I don't think hubby is going to make it home in time from his boys' afternoon out to eat, but he will eat it later or leftover.

Took a long nap this afternoon; just felt sort of crumby, so one cat and I snoozed. Was hungry when I woke up and decided to make potato soup with leftover ham. Smells good.

I baked a pineapple upside down cake this afternoon so had to have a big piece of that with tea around 3pm. It sort of ruined my supper so I wasn't all that hungry. Had a tossed salad awhile ago, but I'll probably get the munchies later on tonight.

I made ravencajun's cheesy chicken potatoes. I'm not overly fond of cooked onions so substituted french cut green beans and mushrooms. I should have been satisfied to eat one serving, but now I'm stuffed as I had to go back for seconds. Thanks, raven.

Phyllis, it must be a potato soup kind of day as I made it for my lunch.

I was not too hungry this evening so just had a fried egg, over easy, buttered toast and hot tea to drink.

I had some chicken soup and a bretzel roll. They were both really good. Hit the spot. In fact, for dessert, I had another bretzel roll! I just love'm and had better stop making them.

It was very windy here too. Snow storms all around us, with road closures, we just got a few light flurries.

Made 2 loaves of honey whole-wheat bread, scalloped potatoes and meatloaf. Broccoli for the veg.
Had to juggle the food in and out of the oven, I had the timing wrong.....the bread finished rising while the meal was cooking, and they don't all fit in the oven at once. I can see where having two ovens would come in handy sometimes!
