What's for dinner Friday?

Tonight we're having spinach quiche for dinner. Harry's grating the cheese for me :-) I'll make a fruit salad again, too.

That loud boom we heard last night was explained as a "sonic boom" due to "military manuevering". That's one heck of a lot of manuevering to be heard in over 6 counties--all of which are reporting their houses shaking. I told Harry if we started glowing in the dark, we'd know what it really was!

brrrrrr cold here and gonna be that way for a while, and the bubble of all things is going DOWN at our pool. No water for me for a while.

Diplomat: went for their wonderful chili and my stomach said reuben, so reuben it was

We're about ready to sit down. Chicken with my breading, rice and french-style green beans (canned).

We're leaving at 6:30, hubby is playing tonite, and we won't be back till about 3:30. That is soooo late for me but it's a great group of guys that he's playing with and I haven't seen them for a while. The bar likes them to play until 2 am.

A few of our friends are coming out to see them too, so it'll be a good time for sure.

Sue, glad you were able to get out and about. I see Indpls. weather in our newspaper. Like to look since DB lives in Greensburg. We only got up to 49 today--or so the paper said. Just heard we should have 70 on Monday, though. Glenda--haha! Hope you enjoyed that tamale. I had a pork tamale a couple of years ago at a little bakery that sells other things on the side. It was homemade and pretty good. Raven, happy birthday to your DH and have a wonderful dinner. I think yours sounds delicious! Shirley, isn't it fun to read restaurant menus? Sure is hard to make up one's mind sometimes! Especially if I'm hungry!! You must be having meatless Friday tonight. We used to do Monday's. (But not every Monday.) Rhizo, I will be right there! Oh, I do love sausage gravy. Now I'll be dreaming about it!! Jasdip, a turkey breast really goes a long way, doesn't it? Okay by me, I love it. Nice dinner--does your cabbage soup have a lot of different veggies in it? Mine does. I use the recipe from the cabbage soup diet. Very yummy!

Kayjones: I'll take one of each. Haven't had either one in a long time. Sue: You do eating right by not eating a full meal when you're only hungry for a banana. I'd have to add it to a bowl of oatmeal. lol The bananas haven't looked good in my area lately so haven't bought any for about a month. Jasdip: Your entire meal sounds like something I'd like to try. I'll take a small amount of each. Mary: What did you put in your shells? Ravencajun: I like your kind of soup. I often do that myself. Toasted bread to go with it ... that should really make you feel better. Old Fixer: Hold the ketchup and I'll join you at your table. That's one of my favorite comfort meals. Shirley

We actually stayed at condos a few miles outside the park. We had 13 people in a three bedroom unit and a two bedroom unit. The condos were supposed to be adjacent, but there was a mix-up and they were two floors apart. My brother had timeshare points that he had to use by the end of June, and he used them to "pay" for both condos for everyone. So comparing one tasty meal with 4 nights free lodging I think he wins the favorite son/brother/uncle award. The park itself was fun (although crowded) but the area outside the park is the capital of kitsch, with endless billboards, shops, restaurants and "attractions", including a scale model titanic, and a Hatfield/McCoy-themed dinner theater.

I also wish more restaurants would offer half portions or something similar. I'm not sure about dinner yet. It's 8pm & DH is working an hour & a half away. He'll probably end up grabbing something on the way home. In that case, I'll just make myself a sandwich & have some fruit & yogurt. I have enough stuffed pepper mix to make a batch tonight, but I've had a headache for several hours & don't really feel like doing that. It's actually supposed to be sunny here tomorrow. I'm trying to get some household things done in spite of the headache so I can spend some time at the pool tomorrow.

Too bad we couldn't all join jasdip to go hear the guys play tonight. I 'might' make it up to about 9pm!!

Gone again most of today. Mine was a piece of leftover fried chicken and a couple leftover biscuits with butter and jam.

We went out again tonight to the same place we were the other night. Oysters on the half shell for 49 cents a piece. that's such a good price, we couldn't resist. Heading home tomorrow. If we didn't miss Georgy so much, we might consider staying a few more days especially because we'll be going home to snow showers. Yuk!

Glenda, I wouldn't go swimming either even if the water's heated. Getting out is no fun! A Reuben sounds good, but no sauerkraut on mine, please. Guess that just makes it a corned beef sandwich :-)

Jasdip, I second Shirley's thought of all of us joining you. Good luck staying awake, but you'll enjoy the good company and music so you won't be sleepy at all (plus, you're younger :-)

Shirley, that sounds good, too! I don't know why people bother eating that in the morning when it tastes so much better at night--IMHO!

Sue, your leftovers are better than my dinners. I'd just love to have fried chicken and I haven't made it for a long time. Try not to fry but, dang, that sounds good. I love cold fried chicken just as much as I do warm.

I have a roast beef in the oven with red potatoes and sweet onion, a wonderful gravy to go with the rice. I was needing my rice and gravy fix. It smells awesome.

Corned beef and cabbage (and onions, potatoes, carrots) . Never got around to it earlier, lol.

Georgysmom, I'm always ready to go home after 7-8 days. I want my own bed!! Have a safe trip. Great price on the oysters. It must be a good year for them.

Raven, I can almost smell it, too. Hope you made a lot so you can have it again (and again).

Rhizo--LOL, you aren't too late. Hey, there's never a bad time for corned beef.

We just weren't that hungry. I made chicken parmigiana and a green salad.

It was a busy week, and I had a small boneless chicken breast that was just the size.
