For those looking for inexpensive muffin cups for cookie trays

If you have GFS near you, I saw a sleeve of 500 that worked out to 1.1 cent! They are plain white, but you could put a pretty colored doily underneath them all.

What is GFS? And why would you put muffin cups on cookie trays? Just curious.

I'll try them this week. I noticed the recipe is for a mini muffin pan and they look nice on a tray. The one I had was a regular muffin size so I think they changed it a bit. Either way they sound like a great recipe to keep and good for the coming holidays. Will post my results. Thanks.

For some reason, I can see the photos this time, and it usually works the opposite way. I do have a couple of mini muffin pans - one is nonstick and they other one is terrible for sticking, and I might have thrown it away. I also have three 3" diameter mini tart pans, but those would not make bite sized tarts. I've made the chocolate filling recipe several times over the years, but with less sugar.

Ours are also over the oven - but I have a few in a drawer - I ran out of space above the oven - I also have my Tupperware plastic cake containers up there and they take up room! I am looking for a newer collapsible version... Above the fridge are trays and lesser used roasting pans and an electric griddle = I resurrected the griddle for making bacon as I haven't found a new pan for the induction that allows the grease to drain. Mine aren't much different than all of the other posts - so only showing my cutting board storage. I was going to switch this to drawer storage after I saw Taggie's a few months ago and showed to KD - she said we could switch but wanted us to wait and the little cabinet works great for us. Yes, I have 12 cutting boards in there (and have a giant one over the fridge - but it is plastic, so not too heavy) and a couple freebie bamboo ones in our china cabinet drawers (they come with cheese items) - I couldn't have 13 of them... Now to put into perspective - the pretty laminated wood one was a wedding present and I like to keep it nice. I have a wood carving board which is only used to carve meats. I have 2 bread boards with a tray to catch crumbs (they are in plastic bags currently but looking for a cloth bag to use), raw meats, veggie, and general cutting boards - Oh and cambria sent us one to match our counters... The shelf is not bowing - it is the camera perspective... LOL

Maybe if I spelled Oly's name right I could find it!! :) Well a little more sleuthing and here it is PUMPKIN BARS 4 eggs, beaten 1 (15oz) can pumpkin 1 1/3 cups sugar 1 cup vegetable oil 2 cups flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp ginger or nutmeg CREAM CHEESE FROSTING 8 oz cream cheese, at room temp 3 Tbsp unsalted butter at room temp 3/4 tsp pure vanilla extract 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar Preheat oven to 350. Beat together the eggs, pumpkin, sugar and oil until well blended. Sift together and add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and the ginger or nutmeg. Mix until smooth, then spread the batter in an ungreased 10x15 inch baking pan (or for a fluffier version, a 9 x 13 inch pan) Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool. For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add the confectioners' sugar one cup at a time, and beat until smooth. Spread over the cooled cake. Enjoy! Oly This sounds good to me because it's a one-shot baking deal and I have a meeting also tonight before I make the cookies. Those whoopie pies are so adorable though. I'm going to save the recipe for another time. I love all things pumpkin. Thanks again Oly and Momj!!!

Clare, GFS is gordon food service, sort of like a food service sam's club in large quantities. A lot of the restaraunts buy in bulk there. Some of the people were discussing how to plate cookies for gift trays to keep the cookies seperated. Muffin cups had been suggested, but they can be pricey. When I saw them there, and they worked out that cheaply, I thought of everyone here and the cookie trays.

Ah ha. Maybe they would work for organizing and cushioning cookies in those lidded tin boxes. Or am I just repeating your idea?

woodie, the bark is white chocolate, pistachio, dried cranberry--melt the chips, stir in the nuts and berries and spread in the pan, cool and break into pieces. Couldn't' be easier and adds nice color to a tray!

The pink/green frosted cookies are lemon flavored Italian cookies--very plain and cakey--not too sweet.

How do you afford the tins? I almost always do my cookie gifts on big Xmas paper plates and then wrap them in cello wrap and ribbons like a gift basket. i have a huge collection of tins but that's what I use for the various cookies after baking. And even then those tins are not cheap.

lol shaun. those are last year's, so if there *were* any left, they'd be pretty inedible by now.

granjan--I always buy tins after Christmas and store them away. Target has been really hit or miss--one year I hit a bonanza at a different store than my usual. The past 2 years, JoAnn's has had them piled to the ceiling for weeks after and I pick them up at 75%-90% off. I was in the other day, and doesn't seem like they got very many in this year, so we shall see if there are any left.

Plus, my family and closest friends send them back for a re-fill!! LOL!! So I only "lose" about half every year. I use medium to large tins, because I use the paper cups, they are cushioned, and I can't fit all my varieties in the small tins. (I did 19 varieties last year)

The tins that I store my cookies in were all my mom's and grandmother's. I think some are from the 30's or 40s!!

Nancy, those do look delicious. So putting the cookies in those muffin cups keep the sugar cookies from tasting like the peanut butter cookies and the jam thumbprints from tasting like the mint patties?

I really like that idea, even if it doesn't stop the transfer of flavors, everything just looks nice.

Nancy, I still remember that great pic from last year! And you bet they will give back the tins if you refill them, they would be fools if they didn't!
I buy tins every year after Cmas, and then never bake enough cookies to fill them, LOL..good way never to run out of tins!
