Congratulations it's Ammi majus! You're not seeing any blood spots in the centers of the flowers, are you? That's the dead giveaway usually, Queen Anne's blood, tho sometimes a plant might not have the red spot The leaves match Ammi majus and aren't as finely dissected as with Daucus carota. I think I'd prefer growing it, because QAL has naturalized across the whole continent and is so common and boring now. I think I had a couple Ammi majus from a wildflower mix many years ago. They were a lot prettier than QAL imo. They never returned from self sown seeds, so only 1 season of experience with it

my local version of QAL is the white carrot known to the indians ... and its pretty easy to crush a leaf and smell the carrot ... let us know ... ken

Queen Anne’s Lace is lovely but photophytodermetitis is no joke. About 10 years ago my husband came back from a weekend of trail running in the San Juan Islands (in the PNW close to Canada) and the next day had to schedule an urgent appointment with his doctor because his feet had started swelling and were covered in blisters. His doctor, who knew he was an avid trail runner, figured it out right away; my husband had been running through fields of QAL and the sap combined with the general moisture had saturated his feet. Combined with sun exposure (my husband lives in flip flops when not running/biking/etc) he had developed a bad case of photophytodermatitis. The worst part is it can take months or years before you stop getting a reoccurrence when exposed to sun or even just heat, in my husbands case it was several years before he stopped having flareups. I later had a reaction on my wrist when pruning a fig tree, fig tree sap is also known to cause photophytodermetitis. It was a very small dime sized reaction and it came back every summer for several years if I forgot to wear my long sleaved sunshirts. It is very painful, similar to stinging nettle and I have become a bit paranoid about QAL and other plants that cause these reactions as a result. If I do grow them I keep them well in check and am fully protected when pruning, etc.

I started on it yesterday, nowhere near finished hacking it down, maybe 1/8 of the way done. There's *a lot* of it. The hedge trimmer made faster work of it than the string trimmer. I had to take the time to rake up the debris, otherwise it would be an ugly brown mess from the house; I couldn't get it all of it raked because the other plants are getting high, too, but good enough. I did some hand-pulling in some areas -- they came out surprisingly easily, probably from the abundance of rain we had the day prior.
