I see you haven't gotten any responses. Who is selling the Jucca? Maybe this is a company's name for a particular stone. To be honest, i would just go with whatever is hardest. When I was getting my soapstone, I whacked a pot on each sample. That definitely helped me decide.

You can see a pic of Jugga on Dorodo Soapstone Flicker page. My research shows Minas to be the hardest stone turns a dark grey with various degrees of white veining depending on the slab you order. This is what I am putting on my newly painted Dover White kitchen cabs.

I saw the jugga at Gardenstate Soapstone with Jay Tauber. I like it, but it is not so hard. I decided same as you Sabjimata to go with the harder one. It will be very black once oiled, but I think it will still look nice. Thank you both for helping.

Pretty Sure Dorado Sells jugga (or however you spell it). We found Minas at Dorado Soapstone. We love it because it is actually BLACK Soapstone and hard. So far no problems and LOVE LOVE LOVE our countertops.

Wow, Lucretzia, I missed this thread when you first posted. But I'm surprised to see you conclude that Green Mountain Original PA is not hard enough. That is the stone that I have and I got it from Jay at Garden State Soapstone. And, in fact, one of the reasons why I chose this stone is that I found it to be much harder than many others I sampled. I've had it installed in my kitchen for a little over a year now and have had no problems with scratching and dinging that simple oiling hasn't resolved. I haven't even found it necessary to sand anything. For others looking for a fairly hard soapstone, I would definitely recommend Green Mountain Original PA.

I meant that the jucca was not as hard. I agree with you that the Green Mountain is hard and I went with that. I was wanting to go with the jucca because of it's color and rustic look, but it scratched very easily. I'm glad you like your Green Mountain. I haven't used the counters yet, but hope it will go well.

Wow, Lucretzia. Nothing like a little time between posting to be able to "see" clearly. :-) I just reread this thread and now I can see that I was the one who was confused all along. LOL! Glad to know you decided to with GM. If your experience is anything like mine, you will love it. It's a real easy to care for, good-looking soapstone.
