Based on my own experience, I'd say it's very hard to kill peonies. I have about a dozen. Three of them were here when we bought the place 5 years ago, although I wasn't aware of them at the time. (And this place was untended for about 4 years prior to us buying it.) One of those three old peonies is on the north side of our house under a pear tree and a crabapple tree. Another one is on the east side of a rock wall and just north of what was a very big old maple tree. It will be interesting to see if sun makes a difference for it, now that the maple is gone. And the third one is on the west side of a rock wall, under a cedar and some pines. It, in particular, is why I'd think it's hard to kill peonies. It wasn't discovered until we had cut down an entire forest of Christmas trees and weed trees that had run amok for 15 years or more. I couldn't believe ANYTHING could grow in that mess. I also have a patch of about 9 peonies on the south side of a rock wall, under some maples, ash, and other weed trees. They were cheapo peonies that I think I bought at Ocean State and planted the first year we were here. So, every peony I have gets shade, but gets very little rain because of the overhanging trees and underlying tree roots. I don't bother to give them additional water. The only thing I do for any of them is keep them weeded. They are all happy and flower away every year.

Outside, You mean something like this? Pluses versus my connecting option: gives MBA total privacy and other BA more privacy, gives MBR access to 2nd BR, may allow double sink in MBA. Negatives: No longer possible to put luggage bench in MBR closet, kind of awkward, does not give BR2 access to MBA shower. My take on it... I think the vast majority of the time this will be for a couple by themselves or a family. Two unrelated adult couples would be spilt between guest quarters in the main house and here. So that, coupled with the fact that, unlike a Jack and Jill, it is fine to just leave it locked all the time if you wish, has me leaning toward my penultimate iteration. Getting a double sink it not important to me; it was only important back when I had one bathroom upstairs. Also, I can get rid of one of the doors in the MBR by making it a sliding closet door accessed within the BA. Then I get a nice big wall space directly opposite the bed. When Magdalena comes to visit, I can put a nice big flat screen there!

Hazelwags, thanks for your input. Filing a gallon jug in 51 seconds equates to 0.85 gal/min. Do you know the flow rate for your cold water filter? If it's more than 0.9 gal/min, then it likely isn't affecting the flow of the faucet. I tested mine using warm water, so the maximum amount of water would be flowing through the faucet. Also, did you test the flow using the Motionsense detector or the lever? Other posts on GW have indicated that the flow rate is better when using MotionSense than using the handle. StarCraft, thanks for the info about Watersense certification. I have a relatively new well and pump that delivers 15 gpm at 68 psi, so I don't think water pressure is the problem. I can get 5-6 gpm with great pressure from my old 1980's showerhead, so it's the faucet that is restricting the flow.
