Pam, just to clarify. Are you sharing fresh baked loaves of bread with friends, the same day you bake the bread?

I often share loaves of bread with friends and neighbours. I keep some inexpensive tea towels on hand to wrap them in. Better than wrapping in plastic especially if they are still warm.

If you are handy at sewing, you could sew bread bags out of muslin. They can be easily stamped with either names or just the word "BREAD". You could include the suggestions above or if you want to make it a larger gift, put most of the ideas together in a basket along with some coffee or tea to go with it.
They have such nice "tea" towels and they make really nice "gift wrap" as AnnT suggested.
You could also gift them with one of the bean soup mixes. Recipes abound on the internet for those. They are layered in a mason jar. That with a loaf of bread and a nice wooden spoon would be good.

I think fresh baked bread will be a welcome gift and the ideas posted above are great ones.

I've only recently discovered the recipe, but if I hadn't, I would appreciate having a copy of it tucked in with the loaf. Just something you might want to add to the gift if you think the recipient might want to make their own once they've enjoyed yours.

Hi quality EVOO with a or some bread dipping seasonings, individual bread dipping saucers. Hi quality balsamic vinegar is nice, however, expensive. The recipe on a homemade Christmas card is also nice. To me, it sounds like a really welcome and thoughtful gift no matter what you put with it.

Just wondering if you have made dinner rolls with the 5 minute artisan bread recipes. There doesn't seem to be a specific recipe for them except the herb rolls.

Pam, what a great idea. I really like the soup mix and bread idea, and a nice tea towel is a great wrap as Ann T suggested, plus you can use it afterward.

You could also make your container the gift, place the bread in a clay baking dish or a nice bread basket.

Lisa, I'm stealing that idea about the soup, so I can give some to Elery's Dad and Stepmom, along with a loaf of bread and some sugarfree preserves. What a good idea!

Thanks Pam, You inspired me to try the recipe and I think my container (lock & lock bowl) was too small. I just set the lid on withour locking it and the dough was running over the container. The two kitchen stores did not have a 5 quart plastic container with a lid. I will try to find a
ice cream container or maybe a spaghetti pot with lid.
Each year we do a Christmas Secret Santa/Angel for 5 people asking them to do the same for others in secret. YOur soup and bread ideas are great. We do two different quarts of soup and your bread with a dishtowel.

I think it will work. Thanks for all the ideas.
