Last fall I stupidly gave up my first foster, Jellybelly. I won't make that mistake again. If I want to keep her I will.

I remember you posting about Jellybelly....There is no way, I could give up this furbaby....She is adorable and looks to at home...
I had to quit fostering. Even though I knew all the cats/kittens were going to great homes, I really had a hard time....I think I might loose my happy home, if I bring 1 more furbaby into the house...
But I sure do love them and love to see people like you taking the time to help these orphans....Bless you!

Well, I loved Jellybelly as much as I could love anything, and I gave her up. You really do bond with them. I had a very bad winter because of it.

But if no one fostered kittens, they would have to be euthanized! So I deal with it. It's difficult, but it's for the greater good.

I feel you will be hooked and so in love with this doll baby she will be staying with you. What a sweetie pie.

What a sweetie! I read about Jelly-Belly and felt so bad for you when you had to give her up. I hope whatever the outcome this time it will be bring you only peace and joy.

I have three here in my house who looked like her . Alas they are quite large now. I once raised a tiny tortie like that rescued at 6 days..I cannot do it any more and I don't know how you do. I give you kudos for great work. My last time was almost two years ago when I stole two 4 week old kittens from their mom before they could become feral like the rest of the pack. I fostered them for three months but had to give the one up for adoption and I still cry for him. His brother Henry is so wonderful, and I wonder if brother Buster has a good life and how the people are taking care of him and how big did he become. Henry is 19 pounds..If I lived alone Buster would be living here too.

You can't keep them all, but you sure did save a few, Lily! They have better lives because of you.

Lily, I know just how you feel...A few years ago, we had 2 semi feral gals that had litters and actually brought them to us...They lived on our porch and we were able to bond with them...But after a couple of weeks, the mothers would make a noise and all of a sudden the kittens would run after them..They were going to take them into the woods...Several times, my DH would take off running with a big box and gather up all the babies (9) and bring them home...Finally, we put all the babies in the basement and only brought them out for feedings and eventually we were able to wean them..Having 9 furbabies in my laundry room was quite exciting...I spent hours just sitting with them, playing with even reading to them...We found good homes for all but 1 orange tabby and that's my Clancy...After that, I helped with a rescue group and again my laundry room was used as the "cat room". Many hours were spent, almost living in the cage with the ferals that we had rescued. But it got harder and harder to give them up,(kept 2 more) so I had to quit...I really do admire all those "helpers"...It is very satisfying to help those little babies...

I have only one. I wonder if it's harder or easier to give up only one, as opposed to a litter?

I have six indoor cats, all rescued but the 19 year old. I fostered four other kittens who then left me for hopefully good homes. This is a reputable local rescue group, who screens people carefully, but still in the back of my mind, they couldn't have as good a life as they would have had here. But there is a limit and I don't want to turn into a crazy cat lady. I hope to have cats till I'm 100, but ideally there will only be 2 or 3, and no more. Those days are over. Nine was the most I ever had and that was briefly.

Lily, You won't be alone in being called Crazy cat lady.....Just yesterday, I had to go to an allergist..I told him, even if the tests showed allergies to cats, I would not be giving them up and that I was known as the CCL....He laughed and said, 3 inside cats, that's nothing....He has 1 couple that has 70 cats...They do nothing but take care of these furbabies, no vacations, nothing and he said, they seem to be sane.lol.......My tests came back and thank goodness, no allergies to cats, just all the outside stuff.....

Wow, 70 is mindboggling!!

Bless you Ellie and all other people who foster pets. Without people like you, we wouldn't have our Elvis, a black and white tuxedo cat. Elvis, his mom and siblings were fostered as a tiny kitten by someone like you. We adopted him at 12 weeks, he is now a year old, fat and sassy and the boss of the house.
