Yes, those are beautiful!! You did great!! It IS very hard to get good pics of fireworks, but you certainly got a knack for it.

KT, your fireworks pics were awesome so I'm really trying to be as good as you. What's your expertise on taking night photography?

Thanks Cameragirl for the compliment but I just get lucky once in a while.

I was better with my old 35mm Canon A-1, but never knew for sure what I had until the negatives were developed.

With my digital camera, well, I'm still learning, but I usually focus the lens to infinity and set the time for anywhere from 1/2 second to 8 seconds, depending on the amount of lighting involved. That's what is good about my digital camera, you can see what your picture looks like right after you take it, so if it needs adjusting, you can do so in the next photo.

I mostly use a windowpod, but also have a couple of good tripods.

One last piece of advice...take as many pictures as you can. I have taken over 200 photos of the same objects, mostly nighttime pics, and as many as 40 to 50 of things in the daytime, to only download them and find out that I only have a handfull that are keepers.

Someone else may have better advice, but this is what I do. I hope it helps.

You're not kidding about taking over 200 photos! I also do the same thing. As for the tripod, my other half keeps telling me to use a tripod and I've been hestitating getting one. I like the feel of the holding the camera...so I'm weird like that :)

I think whatever you can get is good because they are so hard to catch.

I really like that second one! A tripod or something else to set the camera on is crucial to fireworks pics. But you did great hand-holding it.

Nice shots- we have a tripod but I don't usually use it. It has been suggested to get a good sturdy one.
