Hi Tamara, Thank you and GW for providing this site. Like my friend Susan above, I've been a member for years and check in almost daily. Some changes/additions I would like to see: 1. Arrange members names alphabetically on the "Rate & Review" forum. Use links which would allow only direct posts to a particular trader, and "force" the forum to work as it was intended to. 2. Allow posts to be deleted or sent to a "recycling bin" by the originator when they are no longer useful or valid (especially in the case of trades/exchanges that have been fulfilled). 3. Combine the Gardening by State "Discussions", "Exchanges" and "Conversations" forums into one. There simply isn't enough traffic to support all three, at least amongst Alabama gardeners. The "Exchanges" and "Discussions" forums are mostly dead areas. There are some other forums on GW in general that could be combined to increase traffic and interest. Sometimes "bigger" isn't "better". 4. I would like for there to be a process by which the accounts of our deceased GW friends can be deleted. I usually post a notice on the Alabama forum and Trades/Exchanges forums so members/traders/friends are aware and will understand if/when they don't get a response from a certain member or their e-mail is returned. Lastly, "Thank You!" again, Tamara, for giving us the opportunity to help shape the very best gardening forum on the internet! Your efforts do not go unappreciated. 1. I find it difficult to 'find' the person I want to rate and review. I have to scroll through or hope a search works. I can't really compare GW to Ebay, but rating on Ebay is so easy and it's very effective. Could the names be alphabetized instead of listed by date so I can find the person easier? 2. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I always go to the bottom of the page and click Exchanges & Trading or Member Pages. Can you put those at the top of the page? 3. More photos of flowers/plants in your layout that add visual appeal and change/slide show/etc. Maybe even photo credit-Daylily 'Happy Days' by daylilytrdr in Peoria, IL. 4. I agree with the above-stated. People are still commenting on posts/trades from over a year ago. Maybe the newest posts could be at the top instead of the bottom, like the idea of time limit. Now let me tell you the things you're doing RIGHT. 1. Easiest website I've seen to list seeds/plants available and wanted for trade. A+. Don't take that lightly. Your set up is head and shoulders above the competition. 2. Your website is almost never 'down' or not working. 3. Like the 'community feel' of the website-the interaction and connectivity of the members. 4. Thank you for not charging membership or monthly fees. I know you have to work hard to get advertising. You do a very nice job. 5. I never thought I'd visit a website EVERY DAY, but I visit this one and I love it. We're enthusiasts (okay, we're addicts), but as addictions go, it's a good addiction. Your site helps people connect, laugh, share stories and LEARN. Thank you. 6. Not sure where other people stand, but your website doesn't get too heavy into slang and shortcuts (ISO, LMK, DPYN). I have teens in the texting life and it drove me crazy so I made up my own-DPYN-don't pick your nose. When they start talking text language around me I pull this one out and they say, "Mom!" Then we go back to regular English. It's also a friendly place where I can ask, "What does that mean?" if I don't know and people don't treat me like I'm in first grade. Thank you for all you do. I just posted this by grabbing the html code on Flicker and copy and pasting it into the text. You get to it on flicker now by clicking on the finger pointing at the box. I had a lot of problems with flicker last week with their constant changing. They pushed me into the new (sucky) BETA EXPERIENCE. Pictures are bigger but the comment space and tittle space are much small and the way to get to the HTML /BBC code is much more convoluted and enigmatic. But I couldn't get to them at all because when I clicked on the cute finger pointing at he box thing, it brought up a box but it was hidden behind the photo. I could just see its edge. I did complain to flicker and they did fix it. It took a couple of days. Now I go to that box and it pulls up a window with some weird symbols that make no sense but through experimentation and deductive reasoning I realize that the symbols mean html and bbc. One is a tac and I can't remember the other already. They are not intuitive examples of graffics. Yesterday I woke up and I found myself back in the old Flicker. So they got that part of the complaint tooâ¦..Or maybe it was all a bad dream. I went to frequently asked questions on their help line and described my problem in a email form that they had, and they did get to it. I can't remember how I found the help line. I get lost on sites and sometimes I get lost right but I would not know how to get back there. All these changes to the worse is making me anxious and down right beeetchy. I was thinking of going to Flickriver. Apple is doing this dumbing down action too. They are screwing up all their software.
