My Old Glory is in a tub with two other fairly golden hosta. Until yesterday, it sat in this location where it gets morning sun and all day sun actually. But now I moved those golden hosta into the Back40 for safety beneath a shade covering. Not UP yet, but it soon will be. Meanwhile, I'll take another photo of Old Glory to give it individual attention. Yours is looking might fine.

Did she ask him what he'd want, or is this a surprise party? Good luck finding something that will get everyone to participate! LOL But if it's a favorite of his, that would encourage more participation. Also, how far do you want to go? Is this some major dress-up or a theme for decoration, menu and atmosphere? It could also have an impact on people who are financially strapped if that applies to any of the guests. Not trying to be a wet blanket, just pointing out some things to consider. Without knowing the people at all, I can't give any suggestion on a theme. But I can wish you luck and hope the party's a blast!

Old time Christmas in Morning Glory Cottage..

Schoolhouse, what a treat to see your little Morning Glory Cottage Barn. It is one of my favorite places to think about. Do you have some cinnamon and cloves you can place in the window like a sachet hanging in the sunshine? Or a packet (opened) of Captain Black pipe tobacco? It will add another layer of nostalgia.....scent is so important at this season. Thank you for sharing that picture of the band. Ah, those were the days. Your vignette makes a good Christmas card, and your picture on the wall adds personal warmth to the scene. Those were the days.

Bob - The Trimmer seedling was accidentally sent to me as a bonus. The pots had gotten mixed in with his Charleston Charm. It must be a sibling to his intro Santa Clara, which is Orange Blossom Trail X Mexican Elvis. It has a very large bloom - 7 inches - when its not recurving. It only recurves when temps are extremely hot. The bud count is good, and it reblooms well. I imagine this one did not get introduced because the pencil edge does not go completely around the bloom. Also, it is a reluctant pod setter. I haven't tried its pollen on anything yet. If you want a piece of it next Spring, I could sent you some. It is an evergreen.

Be careful, Susan. Those Texans get pretty feisty. I should know; I'm married to one. My wife grew up in Galveston and I learned early on that you don't mess with Texas. The only people that can insult Texas are Texans. (You should hear what she has to say about the people that live over on the Bolivar peninsula!)

"The only people that can insult Texas are Texans."

Ha ha ha. Ron's obviously a wise man. He married a Texan, and has figured out the profit in arguing with a wife. ;)
