Ahh a good supper for sure Shirley. I love paczki. I recently had the strawberry. I would probably like all the flavors. Today was an all day running around. Cheryl took Norm to the chiropractor and I went too. We bought lunch at Captain D's as we had coupons. I had fried fish, fried okra, coleslaw, and a bread stick. I am so very full yet so nothing this evening for me. This afternoon two of my girls and Alyssa shopped for more baby chicks. So much fun. Think I will go to bed soon. The whole weekend is going to be busy for me too.

Hi Shirley!
It was a glorious day here as well. Spent the day at the hospital getting more info and a date for surgery for hubby's prostate cancer. Great day for driving, thank heavens.

Stopped at a Wendy's for a fast burger on the way home.

Fried fish and a potato patty, I think, with slices of green pepper. Baked bread last night, so that will hit the spot.

I have a boneless stuffed Cajun chicken, stuffed with shrimp creole rice. I also have a pot of fresh turnips cooking.

Glenda: Glad you could get out today. I wish I could have shared your fish meal.

Sue: I still have the other half of paczki. Better hurry though. I wish we had a Cpt D;s locally. Do you have to cook for Sunday's party?

Jasdip: I've added your husband to my prayer list. When is the surgery? I like Wendy's. Was in hopes they'd have their fish yesterday, but alas....

Phyllis: Your meal sounds mouth watering to me. Any secrets to making a good potato patty?

Broiled Talipia with steamed fresh peas(took a lot of time shelling those little guys), and stewed tomatoes.

Same old soup (SOS--haha). Shirley, whenever we had salmon patties we always had creamed peas and potatoes! Wasn't crazy about it as a kid, but love it now.

I had to google paczki--is that the same as a jelly donut? Looked like it in the pictures is why I'm asking.

Monica: I'd like to eat that meal. Had to look up the cake. I'd buy one too rather than make it. Sounds really good.

Patti: SOS can stand for another meal. I picked out only the potatoes to go on my plate. Now it just wouldn't taste right without the peas. This was my first paczki. I told people they looked like big jelly donuts and was given a hard time, one lady told me 'one taste will show you they're nothing like a jelly doughnut'. Yes, it was good but still tasted like a jelly donut. lol

We went out for dinner tonight. DH had his usual steak and French fries. For me it was two appetizers. Escargot cooked in white wine and risotto with wild mushrooms and truffle oil. The escargot was very good but the risotto with wild mushrooms was a little bit of heaven with every bite. Yum!

Burgers and fries, Kamren grilled the burgers.

After being on a low carb diet for two weeks, we decided to go out and have a splurge night. We had New England clam chowder, fettucine Alfredo, red wine and even a piece of ice cream pie. We split everything. Honestly, I was pretty full after a half bowl of the soup, but I ate some of the pasta and pie. It was delicious, but too much. Next time we splurge we'll cut out one of the items, probably the pie.

No, I will not have to cook for the birthday party, it is to be at Pizza Shack and we will eat the food served from the buffet. It is really good. We will go today and pick up the birthday cake which had to be pink icing. My paczki filling was strawberry and it was not jelly but like pie filling. Last year I had raspberry. I have not had any of the other flavors. Some have powdered sugar coating and others just sugar on them. Mine were from Meijer.

Georgysmom: Send me just a teeny, tiny bite of the escargot so I can try it. I think they should have a restaurant that serves mini bitesized portions to try.

paczki. Tastes like a jelly filled roll to me. Got a box cause it was on sale. Always thought it was something to do with Mardi Gras, but it's a Polish thing.

If you look up Jewish sufganiyot, guess what they look like, lol. They are seen most often around Hanukkah. I like mine filled with almost any kind of fruit filling, raspberry is very popular.

Last night was buckwheat and pecan pancakes, NYS maple syrup, and ham.
