Hi Spruceman! I'm a event producer in Montreal and this year is going to be the 375th anniversary of the City. We are looking for a Huge Christmas tree to setup in downtown Montreal for the occasion. A Norway Spruce that would be about 90 feet tall. While doing some research on the Internet I found that you would have this kind of tree on your land. Is it still the case? If you do so, could you call me to talk about it? Thanks! 514-566-1719 Philippe

Miele G7100/G7150 info

Miele dishwashers are amazing and well worth their price. I have first hand experience with a higher-end (but not top of the line) Miele and middle-of-the-field KitchenAid. And the differences are far more than what you'd expect from the price difference alone. Having said that, Miele does charge a surprisingly large premium in the US. Maybe it's all the tariffs? They are noticeably less expensive in Europe even when buying the exact same model. Our KitchenAid is in the in-law kitchen and only gets used very lightly. But the plastic parts holding the upper basket break about once a year, causing the basket to come crashing down. It also holds a lot fewer dishes and cleans a lot worse despite taking an awfully long time to wash. Even on the express cycle, the Miele does better than the KitchenAid does on its regular cycle. If the dishwasher only ever gets used lightly and if money is the only factor, buying any of the cheap "highly-reviewed" dishwashers might make sense; and that's exactly why we bought the KitchenAid for the second kitchen. But if it is an appliance that gets used daily or more, than Miele (or possibly Bosch) is the way to go. Our Miele is now 10 years old and still going as strong as on day one, with only one minor repair of a worn-out gasket in the backflow valve (user replaceable part). I doubt the KitchenAid will last this long, which means it might actually have cost us more.

Q. What's been your experience with the Clean Machine cycle? Do you think a heavy duty or sanitize cycle would do the same or similar? A. I run the Clean Machine cycle monthly, either with the Miele d/w conditioner or Dishwasher Magic. We still cook and eat almost all our meals at home so I run our machine almost daily and occasionally I've had to run it twice on heavy meal prep days! Q. I Have you used the Grates and Filters cycle yet? If so, did it work well? A. I've never had the need to run a Grates/Filters cycle, so I've never used that particular cycle. Regarding Autodos and other consumables, I've kept a record each time I've replaced the Autodos and/or used additional products (i.e., Miele d/w conditioner, scaler, Dishwasher Magic, rinse-aid, salt, etc.). I typically need to replace my Autodos every 21 -24 days but we're heavy d/w users. I've never tried to refill my Autodos. I think regular d/w tablets might work just as well, but I love the ability to run my d/w without thinking about how much soap and other additives are needed for the optimum wash. My life is complicated enough so it's nice to just set it and forget it!! ;-) p.s. - The pic I posted show exactly how the dish went into our d/w and how the dish came out after placing it in the bottom rack and running the Quick Wash + Intense cycle which takes just over an hour to complete.

@pima74 If I understand correctly, then I would be able to test this by opening up the switch box in the pantry and checking to see if the neutral wire from the breaker box is connected to the neutral wire that is sent up to the attic. If it is, then what I plan to do is OK? I can tell that both the cable coming up through the wall from the pantry and into the attic and the cable I can see from the basement going up into the pantry is the same as the rest of the house, which includes black, white, and ground. I can certainly open the switch up to double check though.

Ronf your garden is beautiful. What is the plant with the swirled leaves in the first picture?

Thank you lalogue, or can I just call you lal? ;-)
The swirled leaf plant is a Rex Begonia, variety, Escargot, appropriately enough.

The garden is a lath house made for shade loving plants. Another part has less shade on the roof and I have trough gardens with bonsai in it in that part.

"G" is for "Grist Mill"
This is "Lantermans Mill" located in Mill Creek Park, Youngstown, Ohio.
The mill was originally constructed in 1845 & 1846
In the mid 1980's the mill was fully restored and is now opertating as a public attaction in the Park.
As a side note, Mill Creek Park is the 2nd largest municipal park in the entire USA.
Lantermans Mill as view from the publis street bridge over the gorge.

If you look in the backgorund of the Mill picture you can see the covered bridge which is slightly upstream from the bridge.

The Min entrance into the mill;

Shot of the interior of the mill at the Bagging and weighing station. In the far background of this picture you can see what looks like large round wooden tubs. The actual mill grinding wheels are inside those tubs. As the flour is ground it is carried up to bins on the upper floof where it then comes down the wooden chutes to the bagging station.

The Heron pic is just great. The way it's balanced in mid-launch on the very tip of one toe. Perfect timing! You just don't catch 'em at that perfect point every day - or every month for that matter.

Great shot.

Thanks troutwind. There were numerous Herons fishing the Potomac that day and it increased my chances of getting a nice shot. It was an enjoyable outing. Alisande, lookin' hot back in the day.
