moral dilemma

Hello all,

Dh and I are in the throes of a moral dilemma. We lost our beloved terrier mix last spring to cancer, we have another 12 y/o terrier mix that we rescued with him. After a year of mourning we are ready for another dog. Our vet reccomends a puppy so the 12 y/o will not feel threatened, and we want a small dog about 15 pounds or so we can travel easily with the dogs. Here's the problem, we've been trying to rescue a puppy from a shelter for three months now. Some wouldn't consider us because I work outside the home four days a week (where they think the adoption fee would come from I don't know), and smaller breeds just get adopted faster (or so a shelter worker told me). We looked at local puppy kennel last weekend and feel in love with a puppy there. Our vet tech told me that the kennel is really a puppymill and I shouldn/t support it. Now I just don't know what to do! I'd love your opinions

TIA

Sami
