Yep! Daisy (my 11yr.old girl) never did it! Then, I got Jasper (my Shih-Tzu) and HE did it..she saw him, and danged if she didn't start doing it! Funny how they can influence each other!

Yeppers that's how I can tell that Molly has done her business..

The little ones do, the big ones don't.

We call it "RAH RAH RAH" (timed so that each kick of the legs gets a RAH).

Rocky would even RAH RAH on command, silly boy, without pottying first.

Oh my gosh yes! Buddy does that and absolutely leaves ruts in the yard, flower bed or wherever! Too much testosterone.... LOL!

Yup, my lab/husky mix does it.

Loki does it once in a while. I can't stand it becasue he wrecks the lawn and then he comes in with clumps of mud and grass between his back toes. He doesn't do it when he is out back and he doesn't do it when the ground is dry - only when it is muddy. LOL

My brother was here while I was out today and brought Loki in without wiping his feet and when I came in I noticed 3 small clumps of mud and grass on the floor and some sticking out of his feet. LOL This is why I like the snow! HaHa.

Does your dog run around like a crazy fool before he has a bm? Loki does and I watch him from the back window and laugh. Then they got to find just the right spot - round and round we go. LOLOL

Willy does it too! Grace only does it with one back leg! That is sooo funny to watch, like she thinks she's riding a scooter!!!

Yes my Wheaten Terrier Molly kicks her back legs when she "does her business".

Elvira, mini Dachshund, does that every time. So funny! My other dogs never did that.

It's their way of underling their "p-mail". "Look everyone, I was here!!" Doesn't matter if it's their own back yard or not.

Ruby does it, but she digs in with all FOUR paws, and you can see her toes doing that clutchy thing. Leaving LOTS of scent behind, in case anybody is in doubt whose yard this is ;).

The spunkier she is feeling, the harder she kicks. I always tell her "replace your divot" but since she doesn't golf she doesn't understand what I mean and she never does.

But the funnier thing, is she has to do a figure 8 getting ready to pee or poop. And if something interrupts her part way through that 8, she has to start it again. Apparently it is rude to potty after only one circle.

I have 3 dogs, 2 males, and 1 female...they all 3 do it too, of course my little female dog Bindie, thinks that she is male too, and even hikes her leg. Only I could have such a dysfunctional dog, lol.

Maggie does it with gusto, Allie never does.

We call it the Scotty Shuffle, all our scotties have done it. We just got an Miniature Italian Greyhound a couple of weeks ago, at 9 weeks he is still to young, but will be interesting to see if he picks up the Scotties habits.

Ruger and Nikky both did it.

Mason didn't do it the first couple of weeks that I had him, but out of the blue near the end of the year he started kicking to beat the band.

My Bichon waits till he gets just outside the slider and then he does it on the mud mat. I did not train him to do this but it helps keep a lot of dirt our of the house! So funny.

Our pug Tootie does it after she's finished with her tinkle. It cracks us up!

on the rare times I seem them after doing their business, they seem to be doing it! Come on Ang...do some research and tell us why they do this....I think it's because they think their covering up the poop!

I was just going to add that it's nature's way of "burying",waste material. But I've never heard of any other animal that does it. Why just dogs? Do cats do that??

Cats are more polite, they cover with the Front Paws. And then wash their paws. LOL!

My Older Dog Homey (the Peek-a-Poo) only does this to impress the Dogs next door. My 2 year old Affenpincher, Sammie, doesn't even lift his leg. (He has issues).

I'm supprised my Little Pug Pawle doesn't do it as she is such a "Tomboy".

I keep a footstool here at my computer. Maggie my yorkie thinks I put it here just for her to sit on so she can be close to me..(only time she acts like a nice dog)

Everytime she hops up here..she makes a couple of turns, lays down and while laying down she does a few of those back kicks....I think she thinks she's getting away with something...or to show she's boss.
