I love bagels...but most of the bagels sold in the US are junk.

I get mine shipped in from H&H Bagels in NYC.

They are real, crusty Bagels.

Love onion bagels. Only get one brand up here and I can't remember what it is. Green packaging I think. Would love to try a real, honest to goodness, bagel. Love them toasted with cream cheese or smoked salmon and cream cheese. Also warm slightly in the microwave and make sandwiches out of them. Spread with butter and cream cheese and pile on ham and a slice of cheddar/jack or swiss cheese. Thanks, I'm starving now. LOL

I love a good bagel but have to agree with Monica. The bagels today are not at all like the bagels of my youth. I know bagels. I teethed on bagels.

A good bagel has a unique flavor and texture that I have not found in the SF Bay area since the 60's.

When you start adding carp like chocolate chips to a bagel you gotta know something's just wrong with the picture. Real bagels stand on their own.

Love bagels -- Growing up (and currently living) in the shadows of NYC, I'm guessing the ones I eat are close to authentic.

I like the classics (wheat, sesame, poppy, salt, pumpernickel, cinnamon-raisin) with butter or cream cheese. If I am having tuna or turkey then I like an "everything".

I love the "everything" bagel. Orowheat I think.

Panera Bread's Cinnamon crunch bagel....don't know how "authentic" it is, but it's good!!

I love a nicely toasted plain bagel with cream cheese ... also the Panera cinnamon crunch bagel with either plain cream cheese or the honey something cream cheese.

Oh, and I like to make sandwiches of them too! I don't like the pre-packaged kind you get in the grocery stores, but the made-fresh-daily ones there are better than nothing.

LOVE bagels, and I happen to live two blocks from a bagel place that draws people from miles around. There's always a line of 20+ people, but it's *so* worth it. I watch them boiling the bagels in huge vats while I wait to order.

My favorite is a poppyseed bagel, followed by an egg bagel.

I do like bagles. I especially love an eveything bagle from a particular local bagle bakery with cream cheese, fresh tomato, lettuce and red onion. I buy the plain Sara Lee mini bagles to fix at home.

Union Station in Los Angeles have some great ones. Made their and oh so good. I love the all in ones.

There used to be a bagel shop owned by an older man who had lived and owned a bagel shop in NYC transplanted to the beautiful central coast of California....loved his bagels, especially on a Sunday morning. I worked in an Urgent Care Clinic in the same shopping center and one of the docs would always bring in fresh bagels with lox and cream cheese, capers and teeny slices of red onion. Oh, my.....got the day started right.

We used to go to a place in Fargo, "32nd and Bagel", that had really good ones,but they are no longer there. I don't care for sweet ones, but get the everything kind. I just split them, nuke for a few seconds, spread with butter and garlic salt, then put them in the toaster oven to finish all bubbly. With a glass of cold milk, that's lunch.

I love bagels. Einstein Bagels are the closest that I have found to a "real" (NYC) bagel.

I like them. We have Noah's brand here which is good. Much better than the packaged ones, but I get the occasionally as well.

There used to be an Eienstein Bagels in Palm Springs...they were really bad.

I don't care for them either. Too chewy or something. Maybe I just never had a really good one.

yes, love bagels. Started cooking them many years ago. Had a neighbor that would call me at night and ask, do you have a batch making right now. Sure enough I would have her hot bagels at her back porch by the time she woke up the next morning. She loved my sesame seed and would keep me supplied in sesame seeds. This amazing friend died from breast cancer a few years back and every time I make them, always think of her calling me to ask if I had a batch. Strange thing is that I am not a good cook but I love making bagels. Just always make sure we have cream cheese and sesame seeds on hand most on the time and I am good to go. Think the boiling process is what makes the difference with bagels.

Yes, bagels are chewey, only slightly dense, but chewey....and like pretzels, it IS the boiling that does it.

My daughter lives three blocks away from H&H in NYC and we walk down there for fresh bagels on Sunday mornings when I visit her. There is a local shop that has good bagels but the the supermarket variety are pretty much crappy.

I love bagels but not the traditional NYC or Montreal bagels, I find those too chewy. I get my bagels from Costco. I always get the cinnamon raisin. I freeze them and take them out one at a time. I usually have 1/2 a begel for breakfast. I put peanut butter on it.

Most bagel shops by me (NYC Metro area) have wonderful bagels, and my sister is always asking me to bring her a dozen or so when I visit her. She lives outside Philly and can't get the really good bagels of her youth!

I love most varieties, but favorite is a Russian Rye with a smidge of lox, cream cheese, tomato, and a few capers. OMG, so incredible!

Yum... Panera Bread has the best one for me. Love the pumpernickel and the cranberry walnut when they have it. It's usually seasonal.

I enjoy a bagel occasionally. I actually liked the bagel breakfast sandwiches that Burger King had years ago.

Usually a plain one, possibly onion depending on what I'll have on it, though usually it's peanut butter.

At first I felt a bit sorry for those that like so many "non bagel" bagels. Then I realized you are lucky in a way. You can't miss what you have never had. I will forever be on my quest for the perfect bagel.

House of Bagels comes close but even they have committed sacrilege with fruity and sugary bagels on the menu along with sandwich bagels. At least their bagels are boiled.

My sister used to make bagels. They aren't good (to me) unless they are boiled and chewy. I like 1st National Bagel Company onion bagels...when I can find them. With cream cheese, toasted (before the cream cheese!).
