One picture didnt post. It looks like you have 3 walls with openings. Do these pictures go around the room in a clockwise order????? I have lost me barrings in the room, I am not sure which walls are across from the openings. I would place the entertainment unit on the longest wall, centered on the wall. You are right, its too long to angle it. The sofa should be across from the entertainment unit (floating in the room) and the loveseat to the side but I dont think I would place it against a wall. Can you take more pictures. Make sure you place them in order of how you go around the room.

I can't orient myself well enough with the pictures to make specific suggestions. But I would suggest that you pull the sofa and loveseat away from the walls.

And as for moving stuff around to try different arrangements, you should be able to drag the seating pieces by yourself. If not, go out and buy those slider things to put under the legs.

floating the couch in the room... wouldn't that make this room look a lot smaller?

i can move the furniture myself just not the entertainment stand. very, very heavy and awkwardly big.

I can't tell about actual measurements from the pix. Just off the top of my head, I would move the couch to the long wall at the end of the room, and put the loveseat at a right angle to that, back against the short wall on the left. A table and lamp between them. Floor lamp on the other end of the couch closest to the window might be nice.

Put the tv part of the ec on the wall where the loveseat is now, to the right of the entrance to the room from the foyer. I am guessing that is all that would fit on that wall. So then take the two end pieces, put them together on the wall that is kind of opposite where the loveseat is now. YOu could probably add another chair in front of the window, with an ottoman.

OR, version two. Put the couch in front of the window, but centered. Put the TV section only on the small wall opposite where the loveseat is. Put the loveseat on the end wall of the room, and put the end pieces of the ec on either side. Hang some great art in between on the wall. You could probably add another chair in the corner where the loveseat is now, end table between that chair and the couch. A coffee table or large ottoman in front of the couch if you wanted.

The problem with the diagonal is that when you allow for the depth, it will be sticking way out into the room. Now, if you just wanted to do the TV section on the diagonal in a corner, that would likely be fine, but the whole ec would be too much, imo.

the tv on the the wall in pic 425? loveseat on endwall - the one in pic 415? you're saying to put both the middle sec. and the two end sections together on the same wall?
i actually started off with the loveseat where it is now but not at an angle. and the couch centered on the window but it looked like out of wack being that close.

I agree, putting the entertainment unit on the diagonal is going to create a lot of wasted space behind it. Unless you want a triangular home office back there, LOL...

A suggestion: Before you start dragging furniture around, get a roll of brown butcher's paper and cut out a piece the same dimensions as the footprint of the entertainment center.

Try placing the paper in different places. When you put it on the diagonal, you can show your DH exactly how much space will be wasted.

i actually have done the layout with cardboard, ruler, i've used other object and showed him how far it would stick out. he just isn't getting it. i originally agreed with him until i thought about it. as of yesterday i apparently am not agreeing because it was 'his' idea. :) i thought well I'll stick it there once and show him. But now I'm afraid he'll STILL think it's fine. Silly Hubby.

My first thought would be to avoid a couch in front of the window. I would center the whole entertainment unit on wall 415, I wouldnt break it up. Float the sofa looking directly at 415 tv wall. Loveseat right angle to couch on either the window wall or wall 425. I think the loveseat would look best on wall 425 but you have to walk the long way to get to the seating area, if you have a end table. You might be able to put the loveseat in front of the window wall. Your couches are DEEP, so I am not sure if my suggestions will work. Hope so:) Many stores give you a 30 day money back....did you consider sending some or any of the pieces back...if you can.

I'm honestly thinking that i'm going to have to put the entertainment stand on the back wall (415) when you walk in. It does fit on the broken up walls but because there will be no room on either side i think it may look funny. Plus, the wall to the right when you walk in has all the light switches so it would have to stick out a little more.

gk5040 you said about float the sofa straight infront of the tv wall.... would you stick it about mid room? or back farther? i didn't try the floating arrangement last night. what about all the wasted space behind then? You're right, my furniture is DEEP. i'm glad i waited to buy end tables. the ones i wanted are again HUGE bombe style :) I'd actually consider selling the entertainment stand before switching new furniture. I had a heck of a time in the stores trying to find something and i really like it. I could always just use the middle piece of the e. stand but.....
