That's right Sigrid. I thought they retained the Victory Garden in the development. I haven't been over that way in a long time. I used to love to shop there. There was a manager in the yard that used to be good to work with. When they went out of business, we bought cheaply, a ton of milk crates that we still use for a lot of garden activity. And they sold their Christmas display and I still have a couple of village pieces. Seems like a long time ago. :-) What ever happened to all your cuttings, do you still keep a lot of houseplants?

Jenny, Re Viola sororia/papilionacea: see link below. Re V. sororia/cucullata: cucullata should stick to wetter sites whereas sororia can occur in wet or much drier spots. But that and issues of hairiness are all weak discriminators bewteen several species and infraspecific taxa, partly because they vary geographically, but hairiness also varies within a single plant during a season. Later in the year, features of the cleistogamous seed pods and sepals distinguish these species, but it is not so easy when they are in flower - or at least it is not so easy to describe. The one factor worth considering, though again it is a little imprecise, is how far above the leaves the flowers are held: V. cucullata holds them more or less at the same level as the top of the foliage, but V. sororia holds them above the foliage. Thanks for your good description of the associated flora; in this case it does not exactly answer your question, but the forest aspect suggests V. sororia more than V. cucullata. Must have been a great sight, Mike Here is a link that might be useful: Prior discussion on Viola sororia/papilionacea

Martin appears to be a company that has Chamberlain and Genie build openers and apply Martin's name to them. Hormann is built in Germany and apparently is pushing hard here in the states. I never heard of them until about 2 weeks ago. I would worry about price and availability of repair parts. Liftmaster is made by Chamberlain who also makes Craftsman for Sears and many other companies. Liftmaster is their commercially installed opener and Chamberlain is more of a do it yourself model. There is not an opener I like more than Liftmaster and Chamberlain is a first class organization. There you go with my opinion.

I agree that a decision should not be based on that alone, however it is what it is, and should not be completely discounted. There are only a handful (no more than a dozen on the list that I saw) of the hundreds if not thousands of companies nationwide that were singled out by the FTC. The actions must be pretty egregious to warrant such a response, and it raises an eyebrow at the very least. I believe that several of the other companies on that list are now out of business. Often times there may not be one big hairy issue that indicates the way a company does business, but an array of smaller things that can fly under the radar can often establish a pattern. Take it for what it's worth.
