It depends on how you are dividing. Are you dividing them down to 2 fans or 4 fans or what size? I've purchased in the spring which were just bareroot double fans and had them bloom the same year but not to their full potential. I will be dividing some plants this spring and I'm not concerned about how many blooms I get from them this year. I figure it is best to get it done before something else comes up in the fall and I can't get it done again. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Julia

I try to do them like I would like to read/see...meaning, tell me/show me some things that I wouldn't otherwise know (like how early you have to get up...lol!). Hi Kathy: I don't have the answer, except I do know around here...they are commonly sold for planting like that...either in a mixed container or for you to make one with. I've never had one to grow as you describe, lucky you (!), but you are in Florida, after all. They might actually be closer (Houston folks), climate wise, to you. One garden especially (I'll get to it....it'll be the last one) had a lot of tropical plants in it. I heard one of our bus captains say (after being asked...I'll probably write about this because it is a bit more involved and pretty interesting) that the garden was probably only 10-15 miles from the Gulf. We won't talk about the two very huge memory cards (or whatever they're called) that I took...and used...and the fact that I had to drag out my point and shoot to get my prized picture of Jack Carpenter receiving the Stout Medal (yes! Tom, do you still have any of the red limes you had at the side of the house? I was down to within an hour of Excaliber over Thanksgiving, but I couldn't bring myself to fork over $150. Sure Larry, I gave one away Sunday but still have eight left in 6" clay pots, they're about 8-10" tall now and just turning into hardwood, this is their fate in pots or they would be four times as large by now in the ground.
