Healing Brush

I am too poor to afford Photoshop, but I have had good results with the clone stamp and healing brush for imperfections. I found an ok clone stamp with the new paint net, but there is no healing brush. I guess it's a new thing that needs time to come out in the free version. If you use the clone stamp first, then use the healing brush you can blend away your corrections, for a natural look. Does any one know about a free program with a healing brush? I can't answer your question except to suggest Photoshop Elements, which costs a fracton of the full-size program.

I looked at that on Amazon. Only 65 dollars. That is in my budget, but I wonder if it has the healing brush. I would get it if does have a healing brush. I see I can do a trail version, but then I won't have a disc. I rather have a cd then a download.

Suzyanne, What is happening is that with extreme age these columnar varieties often tend to lean over and sprout offsets from the base and sides. Here is an example http://www.brunero.it/cactus/mammillaria_pilcayensis.jpg If you think it needs "correcting" for cosmetic reasons you could behead the plants and root the tops down. The stumps will eventually produce offsets for you. You will have to ensure that the wounds are healed over by letting the cut surfaces dry for a few days. This species is deemed by some authorities to be a subspecies of Mammillaria spinosissima. The website http://www.mammillarias.net/ has a great gallery of photos of Mammillarias including some of M. pilcayensis (as M. spinosissima ssp pilcayensis).

ORB lanterns with brushed nickel hardware?

I don't know f I did it successfully, but I did it. My kitchen is open to the great room and dining area, and I wanted ORB light fixtures and window hardware in those rooms. I don't really like ORB for cabinet hardware, so I went with brushed nickel, which is what my doorknobs are. This is an in-progress photo with the countertops covered with cardboard, but I have white cabs, dark counters, will have a white/green mosaic on the range wall, and medium white oak floors. Close enough, huh? I think the dark fixtures tie in with the dark countertops and make it fine, but I could be wrong.

Hi Jo, You are a very talented photographer and it shows in the pics that you took. They are beautiful... :) I understand once we post things on the Internet, there's always a chance that someone will use them without permission. However, watermarks just stop lazy people from stealing the works. With good Photoshop skills, watermark can be removed with no problem (healing brush, clone stamp...). That's why many professional photographers stop using watermarks to cover their works instead they use it as a way of branding (unobtrusive and incorporate into the artwork itself.) I really like how this photographer incorporates his watermark and makes it a part of his artwork: James Thomas Long Photography However, this is just my personal opinion. No matter what, thank you for sharing such beautiful pics.

I'd like to see a little additional gentle movement in the small branch you wired. The reason is, movement usually gets more pronounced toward the tree's apex. Since the first notable movement is only a couple of inches above the soil, you should have movement, even if not pronounced, in the smaller branch within that approximate distance. Lacking movement, that small branch will draw your eye because of its straightness, unless the tree is grown from this point in time forward as a formal upright or a slant style with a straight trunk. Looking ahead, one could envision the entire trunk above that wired branch moving left as sacrificial. The first small branch off the left-moving wired branch could act as the temporary leader and the branch growing opposite of it could be the first branch on your tree. If you decide to do that, you would prune that branch back to 2 leaves. That done, all of the left-moving wired branch beyond that little opposite pair of branches we're discussing as the temporary leader and first branch would also be sacrificial. Green = wire some movement into this branch Yellow = sacrificial Red = your new temporary leader - wire it more upright - it will grow faster Blue = the first branch on your tree. This is the one to cut back to 2 leaves to slow it down - so the new temporary leader (opposite it) becomes dominant. Al

Yep - PhotoShop Elements does have the "Healing Brush".

I have Elements 5.0. I think 6.0 is the newest version. Sometimes you can get older versions cheaper.

I really don't care for PhotoShop, but there are a lot of resources for it and PS Elements on the internet, so it is a good choice. I am sure you can get an inexpensive disk on eBay.

I looked at ebay, but it was not that cheap there. Amazon has a deal where it is cheaper, due to a rebate it only comes to 54 dollars. Abode sells it for 99 with the same rebate. I know amazon will take it back, and give full money back. However, many people on Amazon reviews said elements 6 won't work with vista. It has many bad review on Amazon, so now I kind of have cold feet. But, I think Paint net, (the free program) will maybe add a healing brush soon, if I wait. I don't know, because it's not that much money, so maybe I should just get it now. Digital photos enhance wrinkles so they seem worse in the photos then in real life. I just got a new Fuji Film camera so I am on a spree.

I got the photoshop express, and it works with vista. I am very happy with it.

Thanks for the follow up bug girl.

I use the freebie, Picasa. I like it more than the free version Adobe put out recently. What does Elements do that the free stuff Picasa gives you doesn't have? Any idea?
