I have a Song Sparrow fighting his reflection on my window and sliding doors for weeks now. I found a product online called WindowAlert Stop Bird Attack spray, but I was hoping to find a DIY recipe. I searched the internet but I couldn't find anything. I already used some decals, but they're not helping. I would need to cover all the glass completely with film and it would be too expensive. Does anyone have a recipe for a spray than can stop the reflection from the glass while still letting plenty of light go through?

I have a mirror addiction. Placement is key. There are no steadfast rules. I think it is more about how you are reflecting the light or architectural interest of the room. Can the mirror hang on the west wall to the right of the door? If so, it will reflect the light coming in the window and the view out of the window. It will almost serve as a second window. Hanging it above the sofa just reflects the flat wall across from it, which doesn't really add much to the space. I think it is fine to start with a piece of artwork or a mirror as the first item in a room around which to anchor your other furnishings. The layout of the space does look like an uncomfortable waiting room. Who is going to be using this room and when? Is it an additional sitting room or your main living room? Are you wed to this furniture or would you consider swapping the love seat for an arm chair or two?

We used SW Aesthetic White in our house with lots of windows. Have not yet seen the "violet undertones" that SW says it has (a good thing!); it is very neutral in all lights.

Carla, when I pruned one of my two Geranium Reds last week, I plunked four cuttings into a plastic cup. It has been knocked over by the wind twice, and knocked over another time by (crows?). I keep putting off pruning the ones I want to take cuttings of! Sylvia, are you doing okay with the Castaic fire burning north of you?
