I am getting jealous now. I dug all of mine up last fall, divided them and replanted them. They are just coming up now so don't know what they will look like until they bloom. About a month from now.

I think you're right! But I also didn't think either one should be blooming now/still - it's been a very strange year plant wise - also, these California poppies don't look anything like the packages of California poppies I've been buying as seeds....hmmm is there more than one kind of California poppy? the other more similiar to other poppy varieties in leaf structure, seedhead, and blooms?

I realize I'm a little late for this discussion, but I had a tidbit I wanted to add anyway. As kids we used to pull a flower out of the top of the henbit and put it near our lips and inhale. It has a tiny bit of sweet sap (or so I guess) that is very pleasant. I recently showed this to my five year old daughter, then got worried it may not be good for her. After a frantic search online, I discovered the name of the plant and that it was indeed edible. So I ate a flower to see if it was sweet too. No such luck. I guess the sap is so minute it doesn't flavor the whole flower. Too bad. But it still makes a nice addition to a salad, though it's a little time consuming to collect!

I use the kids stuff as well. I find it stays on longer and is not messy. Plus if I lose it I don't feel bad. I am terrible about makeup since I work outside most of the time. I end up sweating it off or rubbing it away. Trish

I agree with morz8's DH. I usually have Blistex or Chapstick with me throughout the winter. I prefer the Blistex raspberry flavored version but I haven't seen it in the stores in years, partly because I haven't needed to shop for it in about a decade. At some point my wife had a short consulting gig with Wyeth at the ChapStick manufacturing plant in Richmond. In additional to paying her, they also gave her a bag containing about 50 different ChapSticks.

Thanks everyone,

cameragirl-

I like your Hyacinth and cherub. My hyacinth are spent already. The cherub looks to be disciplining the toad. Telling it to be quite.
