need granite color advice asap - help!

Tomorrow is the day that our order goes in for granite - and I am having a complete meltdown that our colors are wrong.

Kitchen has LOTS of light. BIG island (six feet). White cabinets and Brazillian cherry floors.

New stuff coming: Granite - Jaguar Gold

Stainless appliances

tan walls and a tan/gray tile backsplash.

Do these colors work??? HELP - I seriously will not be sleeping tonight as I am in full panic mode. Wishing I could add pictures, as I have them of the kitchen and the granite color.

I like your choices! Colors seem like the beach to me. The granite is beautiful. I like the soft movement.

If you have pictures on your hard drive, you just need to upload your photos to somewhere like Picasa, Webshots, I've even used photos already uploaded to Facebook without any problem.

Then in the FAQs for GardenWeb, there's a thread (or several) that give step-by-step instructions for putting photos in your post. In fact, I have the coding, but can't figure out how to put it in THIS post because GW tries to read it as code, and there's no photo attached! If you'd like me to email you the code, my home email is in my profile info.

If you have any trouble with the coding, at least get the pics uploaded to some kind of site and post a link. I promise people will go check it out - we've all been, anticipating a sleepless night due to panic!

Well bomg, I am not familiar with any viral or bacterial afflictions that Tillandsias host. It does appear to be crown rot due to excess humidity. The trichomes in your close-up appear to be flattened against the leaves in spots. It just may have taken this long for the humidity to have an adverse effect on your plant. Luckily for you duratii is a plant that can lose it's entire crown to disease and simply grow another from almost the exact same spot. Instead of antibacterial soap I would suggest using Physan 20 fungicide or any other fungicide/viracide you can find. Physan is really safe and super effective.

Do you have a fabric choice in there already, what about floors or anything else that you need to "relate" to? Just going by what you mentioned, cherry cabs look great with greens. ipe deck help...need advice asap

HI Ya George! I dont really care all that much for the 4th not for what its there for the caps poping off all over, just makes me a little jumpi so I am hiding out in the office. Rule of Thumb the fasteners should go into the frame at least 1/2 the depth of the decking, of course the L metal cant do that because the decking is not really fastened to the frame there in is the problem. Using any more than 2 fasteners per conection will have no effect one way or the other far as movement goes, but it just might split out the ipe. Take a close look at that L metal, hold it in your hand,while doing that recall the ipe bill you just paid, inspect the thin area the screws are going into, remember the coated cans you see on the freeway ramps that were missed by the clean up guys after several months, then ask your Contractor if you could drift on over to the many ipe jobs he has out 5 years old or so done with that L metal, Keep in mind us ol boys over here make a living doing decks there would be no trashing if they worked we would be selling the S#i$ out of them. Then make your plan as to how to countiune.Side Note>> I would come closer to using pt 2x2s joist sisters installed with ss screws and 490 adhesive leval with the joists and adhesive on the decking at least you would have a fighting chanceCross Ventalation is very important to any decking X 10 with ipe Air in Air out. T&G ipe skirting gives a very good look. When using solid skirting install screen vents in the skiting, they look like soffit vents in your overhang, we put a router detail on them pretty cool look you can see them on my site. Air in Air out. Do Not Seal All Four Sides with any decking ever for a lot of reasons. Ipe is a very tough long lived nice looking material. It will not put up with uneven traped moisture,lack of ventalation,or flimsly conection while laying flat to the sun. J

I'd want both ends to be the same--square corners on both ends. Go for the max. length that you can get out of the slab & have square corners since island seating isn't important to you. (The 12'' overhang orig planned for wasn't enough room for seating anyway plus the hassle of having stools to stub toes on & complicating sweeping & cleaning up.)

guessing yourself....The chic-ching of spending so much
on various elements what if they don't go? What if I
made a mistake????

You are not alone. This is normal and means you actually
care about how it is coming together. I would bet you are
on the right track. Of course pictures could help us
support you.

Do you like each element?

Do you like the way the granite looks with the cabinets
the floor and the backsplash?

Jaguar is one of those beautiful rocks that can work with
cherry, white, cream, brown, tan, even gray... Take
some images of the slab with your cabinets door and I am
sure it is all going to work out fantastically.
Deep breaths and know you are not alone. This is the world
of Renovations and kitchen love.

LOVE the colors and the granite is A-FRIKKIN-MAZING. I just went through some granite angst myself (mine is a bit more scaled down) - I lingered a bit longer in the granite-angst-world --- like 3-4 months. :) Your colors sound amazing! Get some photos uploaded! :)
