Thank you all for taking the time to share your thoughts.I should explain a little bit about our wedding. My fiancé and I are planning and paying for the wedding by ourselves. All the decisions, from the venue, to the flowers, to the guest list have been made solely by the two of us. My mom and dad will be cherished guests at our wedding but are not involved in the details. We originally wanted a small wedding, but we really wanted to include ALL of our family and close friends. Our save the date list quickly grew to 150, although we don't expect everyone to say yes due to distance. Family alone will account for the vast majority of the guests. We both come from extremely close knit families where everyone gets along with each other. (Really!) and those we are inviting outside of family, for the most part, are lifelong friends whom we adore As far as seating goes, family members will be seated together and we will put friends at tables of people with like interests. The only exception may be that his parents and my parents may be seated at the same table with a few relatives from each family also at the table. Both of us think back to our first weddings where we didn't really know a lot of people on our guest list due to obligatory invites for parents, Their colleagues, etc. This isn't the case this time around. Everyone on our list is there because we think the world of him or her. (I guess I should say that I won't know everyone's "plus one", but I'm willing to take that chance. It is a completely different experience the second time around. Far less stressful. Thank you for your thoughts. They really do help.

I think the hemiepiphytic suggestion is the closest. At that distance it is hard to tell but on enlarging the photo, the plant itself looks like a philodendron. They can be fully epiphytic, hemiepiphytic or even terrestrial but they tend strongly to the hemiepiphytic category and of two types: primary hemiepiphytic - growing from a seed high in the rain forest canopy but with age, sending roots down to the ground; and secondary hemiepiphytic - starting life as a seed from the ground or very close to the ground, then climbing the trees up into the canopy. Eventually they become fully epiphytic and the roots simply disappear. Did you need to ID the habit (epiphyte, hemi or terrestrial/liana) or did you need to confirm an ID of the plant itself? If the first, I'd say you nailed it regardless of the answer, as it could be any of the three :-)

I got a roomba for christmas, one of the higher end models with upgraded mapping/navigation. The concept is great and it works well enough to justify (imo) the $700 price tag, but it doesn't work well. It fails more often (clogs, stuck, doesn't find its way back) than it works as intended from start to finish. Still beats regular vacuuming myself so I'm keeping it but the idea of putting lawnmower blades on that thing is just scary. That said, mowing the lawn is a chore. I do it myself, generally once a week(ish) when the lawns are growing well, less when the climate is less favorable. I'd prefer a landscaping company do my yard, but finding/hiring one that does a good job at a reasonable price and is reliable has just been too much of a challenge to bother with. I currently have a self propelled Honda mower, I got it because it was supposedly "the best" per the collective wisdom on the internet and it is pretty good, does a much better job with leaves and such than any other mower I've had. Lawn products are something I would only investigate purchasing on an as needed basis, like when stuff breaks and needs to be replaced. Hypothetically, if there was a self mowing product that worked well, could navigate the hill I have in my front yard, and could be trusted to not kill people I'd buy it in a heartbeat at $700 or even double that.

My name is Elana W. My site is in my front yard next to my neighbor's driveway. The site gets full sun. A downspout from my house is pointed in the general direction of the site, and a downspout on my neighbor's house also directs water to the area. The site slopes ever so slightly, to form a subtle depression. Miss dig came out to flag underground wires for a different reason, and now we know where they are for our garden too!

Very nice Eric, although I can't download all of them(slow dialup), I keep getting cut off, but from what I see, it looks like you have quite a variety of unique plants there. Some look like those that grow around here in the wild, but I do not know their names.

Those are nice!

I seem to have a lot of trouble with close-ups...maybe it's my digital.
I used to do so much better with my old Nikon.
Then I bought an 8008 and I never could learn how to use it! LOLAM

Apparently I'm sacrificing great photos for OK ones because of the instant viewing from the digital.
(LOL...did that make any sense?)

I thought you were saying that viewing your photos was changing the quality. LOL!

The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)is not working on my Sony. I get lucky with a few shots. Without the display, I can't change settings. Auto setting only.

Got it!

What I actually meant was that I get clearer shots, with the results I want, using my Nikons...but I like the instant gratification of viewing my shots with the digital.

Perhaps I'll dust off the 8008 and shoot some stuff today...it's my day off from work.
