I ordered some vines from Red Dog vineyards in October 2014, they have not yet delivered the vines and keep making excused why the plants cannot be delivered. Do not order from this nursery.

Thanks, Terry, for detailing your experiences with Digging Dog and Plant Delights. I had ordered from Plant Delights last year and the plants arrived looking fine and very vigorous. I wish I could remember the packaging better. Bluestone Perennials has great packaging with the clever way they fold the cardboard around each plant. I appreciate the heads up on what to expect the shipping box to look like from Digging Dog. I too am getting a tryctiris as a substitution from DD, so fingers crossed. I agree their prices are great, $45 minimum makes sense and I feel pretty sure I selected USPS as my option during checkout back in July. The shipping and handling listed on the invoice came to $25.95 and that is what my purchase and payment was based on. My Plant Delights order last spring was Pulmonari 'Trevi Fountain' , Stylorphium diphyllum, (didn't bloom but is alive and well) Jeffersonia dubia (hasn't bloomed but looks healthy), and Thalictrum kiusianum (bloomed beautifully and flowers still present - hoping it self seeds), all seem to be doing well and survived our lovely snowy winter. At this point I'm just hoping the plants aren't currently still boxed up from when they didn't ship this past Monday. I can't imagine they would do that, but they haven't as yet assured me of that. My last 3 emails to them are strongly worded and show my frustration/entreaty but in what I hope is an insistent but reasonable voice. I have rarely if ever had this kind of shipping experience and it is disconcerting. UPS would be almost double the cost and I trust and prefer USPS Priority even though Digging Dog warns against it. My Digging Dog order is Actaea simples 'Pink Spike', Dracocephalum argunense 'Fuji Blue', Thalictrum flavum ssp. glaucum (this is the one that precipitated my order), Verbena hastata 'Blue Spires' and Tricyrtis ‘Autumn Glow’. I was so happy to have placed the order, but now that feeling has turned to dismay. I will come back and share the news when the plants get here next Thursday at the very soonest. I am still hoping to receive decent plants despite my choosing USPS and being warned of delay and no guarantee of healthy plants. Thanks again for your great information about your experience! Gardengal, not this idiot. He eats EVERYTHING! He has slacked off on the limestone rocks in the driveway. He is a rescue and must have been starved as a puppy. He ate, ATE not just chewed, rocks, sticks, berries, leaves, rabbit poop, worms, and anything and everything else that would go down his throat. He still does berries, leaves, worms, and rabbit poop. We have scoured the yard and have to stay outside on top of him every second. Nice fenced backyard and we can't leave the 12 pound idiot outside a second without an eye on him. ETA: We haven't ever had one like this! We have had big and small dogs for years of all kinds and never one like this one. It has been three years now, and he WILL eat it! ETA2: He is a chunky monkey now. He is NOT hungry. He does and will eat anything.

Sometime you just have to suck it up and do what you have to do. I understand how unpleasant it is. One of husbands relatives sat in our car with strong perfume on and it took months for that smell to dissipate. It permeated the seat belt and was hard to avoid when you used the seatbelt. I had one of those padded seatbelt covers and it helped a bit. Sure it was the entire padded seat that smelled, but the seatbelt just brought it right to a point that every breath was filled with it. Some people are wearing a multitude of chemical odors before they ever walk out the door of their home. They are subjected to everything from that nauseating plug in that delivers 24 hour smell, to the fabric softener, the body wash, the hair product, the deodorant and maybe some perfume thrown over it all. You can smell them coming and long after they have gone. They remind me of a dog that has found something irresistibly fragrant and they roll in it. At least you can put the dog out in the back yard until he gets a good bath. You cant do that with chemically scented people enveloped in a cloud of miasmic vapors. The only thing worse is if they are also a smoker. Then, you have a double whammy of noxious odors. Glade plug in, MorningShine scented fabric softener, plus Marlboro is never good. You may never get that smell out of your head and your nose. But, you may just have to do what you have to do and let it pass. There is no magic that is going to make it go away.
