Discharge came after. Maybe a week or two. Don't remember exactly.

No epidural during my time. I wish there was. When daughter had epidurals, they stopped them just before the births so she could feel the pushing sensations. She wouldn't have otherwise. Just like she could not feel the contractions, she couldn't feel anything at all.

I don't remember about the discharge but I had an epidural with both and they turned it down when it was time to push so I could feel the contractions.

I actually started "leaking" slightly prior to delivery..3-4 weeks if I can recall correctly.

I had one child with the aid of an Epi..it was done so that I could feel the contraction coming..but I wasn't in pain.

I had discharge pretty quickly after the birth. They gave me a shot back then that stopped it. Had an epidural, still had the urge to push as I recall.

I didn't have any discharge during pregnancy,but my bust got huge-from a skinny 32 inch bust to a full 36. Afterwards, I breastfed and did have quite a lot of "leakage" between feedings. I had natural childbirth, it hurt like hell and I did have the urge to push. I totally sympathize with anyone who has an epidural. I did get a shot of anesthetic for the episiotomy cut. That darn thing hurt for weeks afterwards, I was so afraid to go to the bathroom, I needed stool softeners. TMI?

I don't have children, but after two miscarriages I had "milk" came in two days later. A friend "bound" my breasts with wide strips of cotton material to stop the flow; it took about a week. I didn't want to get shots and the doctor would not let me act as wet-nurse for anyone. He said it wasn't mentally "healthy." I still disagree.

I had no discharge until my milk came in about 4 days after I gave birth.

I did not have an epidural, I had a spinal but I had a scheduled c-section so there was no pushing or even an urge to push so I can't be of any help there, sorry!

I had no discharge before birth. I breastfed and my milk came in quickly.

No epidural since I requested natural all the way. I didn't need an episiotomy because I told the doctor to do a "pressure episiotomy". They have to wait to do those until the almost the last moment so if one isn't needed they can tell. Otherwise you usually get them whether they are necessary or not.

I nursed through most of my second pregnacey so I wouldn't know if there was "discharge" or not. LOL

First question, I had discharge at least 6 weeks before having the babies (3) and when they were born my milk was fully in and my breasts were so full and babies ate like crazy.

I had an epidural with Rhiannon and still had the urge to push. I had trouble with her though and Dr. had to help push her out, and ended up with c-sections with the next 2 after being induced 4 days with the first and 2 days with the second and 3rd was planned c-section.

Now ask me about tubal ligation after the c-section was done;

No breast discharge, and my milk never came in so I was not able to breast feed.

I had an epidural, what they call a "walking" one. I won't say you can walk, but you can move your legs. I also needed the drip to keep the labour going strong because DD was going into distress and I wasn't progressing after the water broke. I don't know about an urge to push, but when the nurse said to push I did and she said it was working well, we were able to take the baby from nothing to crowning in about three good pushes and she felt I could have gone all the way.

I don't remember noticing any breast discharge in the weeks before my first child was born. The colostrum was there within hours after deliver, milk in about 24 hours. With subsequent pregnancies, though, there was colostrum-like discharge 3-4 weeks before delivery.

I had an epidural for 3 deliveries and still felt an urge to push. With #2 I had the best epidural. #1 actually wore off; #4 was an unusual and stressful delivery and I had to resist the urge to push. But #2, it was a perfect epidural, took the edge off but I could still move around and definitely felt the urge to push.

I had 5 and my baby is almost 43 so I don't remember too much...I did breastfeed but I don't remember if I had any discharge before...Nothing during each birth, not even a doctor..I was lucky I made it to the hospital. I had said, if there was a 6th, I was staying home....I loved being pregnant!

I don't recall any breast discharge. I remember when the milk came in...after she was born...about 24 hours, I think. I nursed her on demand for the next 3 1/2 years. :)) My breasts didn't get that much bigger when I was pregnant and only a little bigger when nursing.

I had a spinal, because I had a c section because "my labor did not progress."

I noticed a discharge at 6 or 7 months. I had epidurals with all three kids. I was numb down to my toes and never had the urge to push. I pushed when I was told to. Being numb did not infere with the pushing. DS #1 crowned on the first push and I only had to push twice after the doctor showed up. I pushed for five minutes with DS #2. Dd was sunnyside up and that caused me to push for a while.

I had a breast discharge prior to birth with both my children (probably 4 to 5 weeks before delivery). I had an epidural both times and did not have an urge to push.

I was a breastfeeding advisor and should be able to answer your question about nipple discharge . . . but I can't remember!

I had three natural childbirths (no epidurals) but experienced the urge to push with only one of them.

Dances - did you ever look into Sheehan's syndrome? Not being able to breastfeed due to no milk production is a major sign of Sheehans. I don't know if you ever had a large amount of blood loss (especially while pregnant or shortly after), which is a cause of Sheehan's. That is what I am looking into since I had a hemmorrage after a miscarriage and D&C about 25 years ago. The syndrome affects the pituitary - so it can cause thyroid, adrenal and ovarian problems as well as diabetes.

1) When did you notice any breast discharge at all? Before or after delivery? If after...how long was it after the birth?

I had clear discharge before I went into labor. A bit of colostrum. (sp)

2) Did you get an epidural? If so...did you still have an urge to push?

I didn't have an epidural with any of my 3 births.

I had epidurals with both.
I felt the babies drop into the birthing canal but the doctor/nurses had to tell me when to push.

I had no discharge before Nick was born and my milk took a few days to come in. He wouldn't nurse (maybe because nothing was there??) so I was using the industrial hospital pump and it still took that long to coax it out.

I didn't have an epidural because I had the urge to push LOL. Me and my big mouth - they were just about to get the needle in when I mentioned I 'felt something' and they checked and I was too far along. Oh well, the worse was over at that point. I had a hard and fast labor which was much more painful that the hour of pushing.

I had discharge a month or two before I had my babies. I've had one epidural and I had the urge to push, but it wasn't as strong as the births when I didn't have the epidural.
