Joe is correct. There are disastrous losses and there are insignificant losses. We would have to know a lot more to judge whether this particular loss is significant for example, do you have a fountain or spitters? Since these expose more water surface to the warm air and so to more evaporation, their use would lead you to expect more water loss.For the most part you could say that if it isn't adding water to the pond, there is a water loss somewhere. Look around all sides of the pond. Is there any spot outside the pond interior that appears moist or even slightly damp? If you have a waterfall, is there any splash? Like spitters and fountains, splashing exposes the water to the air which causes evaporation. Are there any connectors exposed to the air? Are they absolutely tight? What is the water temperature? What is the air temperature? If you do not top off the pond water does the water loss continue or does it stop or level off at some point? Are there a lot of plants? Plants use up water through their roots and lose it through their leaves. Are there plants or anything else that drape into the pond? These can siphon off water. A piece of liner draped over another can cause water loss through convection(that water just climbs right up between the layers). Hope we can help (with more info from you).

Do you have any extra liner under the rocks?? If not I think you will have to make a change to your pond. If you want the rocks to be in the water the liner needs to extend beyond the rocks and above the water line you desire. What I (and many others) have done too accomplish this is to extent the liner beyond the rocks and above the water line and then use a mix of additional rocks, including smaller rocks and gravel to cover the liner edges.

Hi... in all my reading on here, when in doubt about watering don't.... if you think it is to wet, what I would do is take it out of its pot and take off as much of the wet soil as I can and lay the cactus on news paper or paper towels to dry out the soil and then repot with new soil, don't water it and give it a chance to recuperate.... cactus can go a very long time without water.... I don't water my cactus all winter in fact I just watered mine 2 weeks ago for the first time since last fall when I moved them indoors for the winter....all are doing fine, but I guess I over watered my stapelia..it rotted and I tryed to save part of it but it rotted too.... well, just passing on what I have learned from the people on here I hope this helps and I am sure others will help too...good luck.....linda

Datura usually doesn't need too much water. I water mine every couple of days, and that's probably excessive. You should be more careful with seedling, though, as they are quite fragile. Give them enough water to moisten the soil every three days, I say.
