Floor plan help for a new build

This kitchen is 16' x 9'. My island dimensions are roughly 6' x 4'.

We are a family of 7 with four cooks. I serve three homecooked meals most days and we will use this space for entertaining often as well as homeschooling during the day.

I need a landing space for teaching materials as we'll be doing school at the island. I think the counter (labeled 10' will work) kids do school at the island.

Beyond the kitchen is a dining space which then flows openly into a great room.

Do I want a cooktop on the island? Or should I trade the sink location to the office space and put the cooktop on the back wall? Whatever is on that back wall is the focal point of the entire 40' of space (kitchen, dining and great room open to each other).

Our views are spectacular from either window.

That window directly across the kitchen from the fridge is southern exposure if that is important to anyone...

Anyway, I'm very, very new to even reading plans much less planning a custom home so I am very sorry for the crude drawing. I read on the building a house forum it's not cool to post the architect's drawings.

Here is a link that might be useful: Kitchen option A
