My quince bush made me a little spring bouquet all by itself yesterday

I just love the color of quince blossoms.....great picture. It cheered me up!

Florist roses are loaded full, pumped full of nutrients. The stems have lots and lots of carbohydrates stored up, so they are more than likely to sprout new growth despite a lack of roots. Without roots, however, the stem will eventually exhaust itself and it will die. You could try: 1. rooting the stem in sterile mix. 2. see if you can get roots in water and immediately transfer to sterile mix as soon as you see the start of roots 3. toss. Keep in mind that Florist roses are specifically bred to be grown in shade houses at high altitudes near the equator, usually in constant cool temperatures (under 75F) They sometimes can be excellent garden roses; others can be terrible terrible garden roses. You don't know until you try. It may be worth the effort, or it may not.

Well the pics on HMFlook right---Lets see what Quest Ritson Says - "The charm of this cultivar lies in the individual flowers, because it does not bloom much(he used a different word which would be considered racist so I wont say it-besides that he is WRONG and mine is covered with blooms.. "The edges are palest pink or white, contrasting abruptly with the deep strawberry pink center and flowers carried in clusters from 3 to 12''...wonder what RVR has?

What a wonderful thing you have done--brightening the day of a gardener with the beauty of your hosta! I am very touched by what you have done! It makes me ashamed that I hold on to my hosta so dearly, afraid to lose even one leaf for fear it will compromise the next year's growth--how selfish I feel right now!! I think just about everyone here has built their own terrarium. You might try clicking the gallery link and looking at some pictures. I've built very large ones from both wood and metal, using glass and plexiglass. are some pictures of mine.

Nice, RC! It only took me 15 minutes to download the picture, but WELL worth the wait! (Slow dialup).

Did you use a tripod? How about zoom?

Thanks guys. And, to answer the inquiries, I stole my wife's little digital camera for this one. It has a smaller lens but a larger megapixel. That probably explains the longer download, KT. Sorry. I may have to figure out how to down size the pics if I keep using her camera.

To tell the truth, the biggest issue I have using her camera is that it is so small it is hard to focus and hold still.

No need to apologize, as it is my problem. That's what I get for living in the country. Besides, they are much nicer when they are larger.

When I make mine smaller, sometimes they are TOO small, and detail is also lost.

Same here Doris. Maybe it's just me. I wish I had just bought a Kodak Easyshare with image stabilization. Maybe I will someday.
