I posted this on the KT, thought I would here too. This is Maggie, lying in her sunbeam today.

Lovely picture of a sunbathing dog!.....I too, was thinking of the "sun"....sun dog, I posted over a year ago.

I don't know what KBG Rough grass is. Do you have a link to the seed? Creeping Red Fescue does better in shade than KBG does and it spreads, but it spreads more slowly, so it may have trouble recovering from the dogs.

Sherry, glad you found your way to us here! In one year you will be buried in amaryllis if you hang around with us, LOL. Becaues you will want one of everything someone else posts, be offered trades, parts in group orders, learn to cross breed and try them from seeds and be trading seeds! Ask me how I Know, ....I joined late last fall. Yes, it is hard to wait for the autumn bulbs but I have my orders in too...where did you order from and what did you order...inquiring minds want to know! Last year I ordered so many bulbs, as I got to see what other people were growing, and because I have a cut flower business where I sell the amaryllis flowers in winter bouquets. IT made a good excuse to keep ordering, LOL...also I had both my knee replaced so they were my cheerer uppers. I have orders in to Van Engelen, Royal Colors and replacements form McClure and Zimmerman... they sent me mislabeled bulbs last year. (Me and a whole lot of other people) THhis summer I Am trying letting my bulbs grow outside under landscape fabric for the summer, and hope they all grow well and strong. It has abeen a bit of a learning curve for me so I AM not sure how many of them will be good viable bulbs this fall. Well, welcome, tell us what you have ordered, and join right in! Its a great time to learn about them by reading the posts form the past, before your new bulbs arrive.

Promised my brother I'd wake him if it turned blood red. Saw a few shooting stars. Saw the first thirty minutes of totality. Watched the clouds roll in around 2:05am. Thought maybe it would magically change colors for me if I got to :17 but no luck. In other news, we had the bomb squad roll out down the street yesterday. Helicopters flying overhead. It was an eventful evening. I'm resisting the urge to fill up my full tank at exxon where it happened just to ask how it played out. I'm sure they'll have their ears falling off by the end of the day. I would loooooove to go back to bed now, but I've got seeds to sow. *squee*

Good pictures. I think these are called Sun Dogs. We see them down this way once in a while, too. I don't know how to send a link to a web site, but just type 'sun dogs' into your browser and you will get explanations of them.

Great photo!! Yes, I learned on this forum, what a sundog was. I photographed many in the past, but never knew them by the name, 'sundog'. You fooled me, too!

Maggie sure looks comfortable.

Nice photos also, Konrad! I really like the first one where the sundog is at the tip of that cloud. It looks as though the cloud is smoke coming from a burning ember.

OK educate me...what is a sundog? A place where the sun is reflecting off/through a cloud?

A sun dog or sundog (scientific name parhelion) is a relatively common atmospheric optical phenomenon associated with the refraction of sunlight by small ice crystals that make up cirrus or cirrostratus clouds.

Sundogs typically appear as a bright and colorful patch in the sky at a position 22 degrees or more to the left and/or right of the sun. They are a halo.

Last year when I posted it,.....never knew what it was,... some of you educated me!

The sundog in the picture only shoes one half, [should be two] the other half on the left probably was there but at the time have never looked for, I think it was behind some houses.
If you google, something should come up.
