I don't know what KBG Rough grass is. Do you have a link to the seed? Creeping Red Fescue does better in shade than KBG does and it spreads, but it spreads more slowly, so it may have trouble recovering from the dogs.

Promised my brother I'd wake him if it turned blood red. Saw a few shooting stars. Saw the first thirty minutes of totality. Watched the clouds roll in around 2:05am. Thought maybe it would magically change colors for me if I got to :17 but no luck. In other news, we had the bomb squad roll out down the street yesterday. Helicopters flying overhead. It was an eventful evening. I'm resisting the urge to fill up my full tank at exxon where it happened just to ask how it played out. I'm sure they'll have their ears falling off by the end of the day. I would loooooove to go back to bed now, but I've got seeds to sow. *squee*

This thread reminds me of a trip to PetsMart. As I walk through the parking lot towards the store, I notice a Shepherd mix in the backseat of a car, with one back window dropped two inches. HMM. I go inside, let the first employee I see know about the scene in the parking lot, and she makes an announcement over the intercom. I am sooo ticked by now, as this is probably the third incident I've noticed in the past ten trips to the store. I think to myself, surely this idiot will go out there and get the dog, or just leave with what they came for. Capone and I stocked up on goodies, got him weighed, and milled around (he likes to look at the fishies with a quizzical expression, and could do it all day if I let him) - we were in the store no less than 45min. As we walk back to the truck, the dog is *still* in the car. I put his goodies in the truck and stomped back into the store, muttering expletives the whole way. We get back inside, and I realize it's so hot that I've broken a sweat just walking to the truck and back, so my anger grows further. I get the attention of the cashier who'd made the announcement and tell her the dog is *STILL* in the vehicle, and got her to announce that another customer was reporting it to the police with their tag number. I did it right then, and proceeded to march around the store, looking for a person without their dog - telling anyone who'd listen about the poor dog outside quite loudly. A few minutes after that, I was completely worked up and Capone and I needed to get home. We left. So, what I just cannot comprehend is: Why take your dog to PetsMart and not take him inside? IT'S PETSMART! You're supposed to!!!?! If the dog can't behave in the pet supply store, why let him sit outside for an HOUR or more in Austin summer heat? Just what the hell were you doing for an hour in PetsMart without the dog? Sorry for the rant.... Lianne - kudos to you for thinking to provide the dog with a tarp and water! Wanttoretire - thanks for the note idea, it sure beats my reaction in the heat of the moment. I've very seriously considered breaking windows, etc. and have left one nasty note (written in the heat of the moment) with my phone number on it, explaining that I'll take care of their dog if they just don't want it-there's no need for a cruel death of suffering heat exhaustion.

Sue, I just googled "Pot at the end of the rainbow"About a year ago I got that one in an email. I laughed so hard! There are a lot of things going around and around, but some of them are first timmers. I think all rainbows are special.
