I watch it Flamey. I didn't used to watch it because way before the television programme I had read all the Kathy Reichs books that the show is based on. I remember being on a waiting list to buy her first book before it was even released. Tempe in the books is older and has an ex husband and a daughter that works for the FBI. I couldn't wait for the tv show and when I watched the first episode I was so disappointed they portrayed Tempe as a much younger woman. LOL Unlike you Flamey, I preferred the books. I did start watching it again last season and the show is starting to grow on me and I enjoy watching it now. I thought the episode where Booth was shot was really good. I really like "Sweets" too and how Bones and Booth tease him. Cracks me up. LOL I am looking forward to watching it tonight. I always tape it though because I usually watch something else at that time. I think Booth will live another day. Anne

They don't live in Florida, either. So after 6 years in Florida, we moved to Tennessee, and my kids (2 were born in FL, and one didn't remember living anywhere else) saw them for the first time. I grew up around them in Ohio, so while I had missed the summer tradition, I wasn't surprised by them. I didn't think to point them out to my kids and identify them. I had a good laugh when they all dropped their mouths open and pointed "What is THAT?" It was fun, they were just the right age to be amazed by them. I think maybe the bugs need cold ground for their larvae stage? Anyone know? Seems like that's what I read once. That's whey they aren't in climates that don't get a cold winter. We see a few here, lucky to see 5-6 a night, not like we'd see in Ohio or even Tennessee. Once in TN I read that scientists needed them for research, and would be in town collecting captured lightning bugs on certain days in August. You were supposed to capture them, then put the entire container in the freezer where they would, of course, die. But you had to keep them frozen. So we'd catch 30-40 a night, freeze the jars, then the next day transfer the dead, frozen bugs to a larger container. Then store them in the freezer until the collection time. Even then, you were supposed to bring them in a container, in a cooler packed with ice. They could not thaw out after that first freezing, could not get wet and have ice on them. We had hundreds of dead lightning bugs in our freezer. They were buying the lightning bugs, I don't remember the price, but it wasn't much. We figured if we even had 500-600 we'd be lucky to buy one milkshake with our profit. LOL. It was just a fun summer diversion. Then we ended up having to move a few days before the collection date, so we never did get to turn them it. I offered them to a couple neighbors to carry on the project, but no took me up on it, just looked at me like I was nuts. Go figure. Sorry, that got long. People tell me I have a story for everything. When I've had too much caffeine, I tell them all!

I watched the first two, but couldn't get into it for some reason. Which is sad because there is so little out there right now. Something about it reminds me of Third Watch, which I didn't care for at first but got caught up in on the reruns. Maybe I'll give it another chance.

I agree with Sushipup. I'm concerned about Amy. She started strong, but seems to be checked out. I could happily watch her on Food Network, so I think she has the star part down, but don't they have to be in New York a lot? That isn't going to be easy from Hawaii, and I don't think I could move from there to the Northeast. :) She definitely outshines most of them on the warmth meter. That's what I love so much about Aarti. She's so genuinely warm. Her food is great, but I could just listen to her chat. Manny has "it" power. He's charismatic but warm, and knows a lot without being brash about it. He doesn't have great presentations skills, but that's the easiest of it to learn on the fly. I liked Christian more this time out. He's starting to be more real. So is Jess (? is that her name? The novelist?). A lot of writers are poor spontaneous speakers, but she has command of her tongue, and also seems to be warming up. She could be a dark horse if she figures the whole thing out. She's also becoming more memorable. I like Palak a lot but she doesn't project the kind of warmth that Amy has in spades. I think her food is much more interesting, but, frankly, she reminds me a lot of Giada, who has, herself, learned to project a lot more warmth in recent years, but is more composed and tight by nature. I'm making no predictions, however. The show I would have added to my DVR list would have been Dom's. By far one of the best cooks that's come through the show, charming without trying, and warm without gushing. I could listen to him describe food in Italian laced English all day. But they didn't want a cooking show cook, they wanted someone to prattle about restaurants, and out he went. I miss the old Food Network before there were stars. Sara Moulton was a favorite. Ming Tsai, too, though I don't cook his kind of food. Dom would have fit in with them... But maybe not the stoner set whose glassy eyeballs watching seem to keep the lights on at Food Network.
