Okay, moved the hygrometer to the dorm. A few observations: 1) Readings here, by themselves, made more sense. I was getting a read of about 37-40% relative humidity. 2) That still means my bedroom at home is more humid than I thought, which is good because that's where I'm keeping the large podocarp I bought, although I'm still a bit surprised about this. 3) Assuming it IS off by 10 points, as per the calibration test, that means my dorm is actual 47-50% relative humidity and the bedroom is like, 60ish. Which I still think is high since 4) Humidity is about 10 points higher about a foot away from the window than two feet away, which makes a lot of sense since that's where I have my plants and the window acts like a giant condenser plate.

After you fold your paper, let's say vertically. See where the crease in the paper falls on the numbered graph. My vertical crease falls on one notch below the center square figure so on the vertical box in the calibrate printer window I typed -1 Below box are minus numbers, above are the + numbers. Where ever your paper crease fell that's the number you put in. Luckily my horizontal was creased right at the center, so I put nothing in that box. I use all Avery products and print postcards and labels without any problems. I do a check first before printing good copy by using plain paper and Draft printing choice first. Hold the test printed page over the card stock and see if each card or label lines up before using the good stock and Best printing ink option.

Have you checked your display color bit,etc. go to start, control panel, display?

You know, Linelle, Apple used to be like that--just set the gamma and white point and you were in a decent place,as long as you weren't doing prepress or something, but that Apple is long gone, alas. It died before Steve Jobs did. I'm sure yours is good enough, but don't be too surprised in threads where everyone is complaining about, say, a pink cast to tile, and you can't see it. These days it seems like every copy of the OS they use for imaging has different settings. I see wildly different colors on the same machine models. On the other hand, with the emphasis shifting to mobile, proper calibration is a very low priority in most situations.
