Love those wax wings! so oriental looking. I've only seen waxwings around here about 2 times, they come and go quickly. Looks cold up there!!

Hi pirate girl! I frequent the Hoya forum quite often. I purchased a lot of my Hoyas from EBay... But purchased two supposed EA lacunosas from big box retailers that look completely different from each other. I received an ID from the Hoya forum of my dark green as Ruby Sue and the lighter I was just guessing as Tove. You know how spotty their labeling can be. The Aeoniums that have the larger more sporadic looking leaves were labeled as "Voodoo" and listed two parent plants with Schwarzkopf being one of them. The other more bushy aeonium was purchased from an eBay seller in San Diego calling it Blushing Beauty... Not sure on that one. I have tried to be very precautious with the Hindu Rope as well as all of the clearance bin babies. Most I have systemically sprayed with a Neem/Soap/Alcohol mix I found in the Hoya forum. Admittedly, it is a pain in the rear!!! And I'm sure the Echeveria will only be tolerant of sprays if they are few and far between. The Aeoniums don't seem to mind at all. I realize it's a gamble, but they just won't make it outside in a N TX winter. I'm crossing my fingers!!! Anyhow, thank you for the advice and info. And thank you, thank you to Kathi and Hoovb! ~Sara

Scotch Moss deadspots after winter, PICS

Well to update I just removed the dead spots by picking it away gently. Some of it is filling in and some of it seems to be struggling. I bought some seed that I'm going to plant to try to fill it in which should work fine. Overall my first experience is get the dead stuff picked away and try to take care of it the best you can.

Wow! If anyone says we are having a greenhouse affect, I will, blank my pants! lol Those temps are just ridiculous! Whhat gives? I can't beleive the snow you had Mike and for that area. Good golly! looks like you are just about to engulf your greenhouse into an igloo very soon as I did..lol Now, what's next, tornados? I is such a good feeling to ee the temps in there that warm right, those lucky trees. I lost my heat last night, ran out of oil. It was 55 in my home this am and it was 68 in the greenhouse. I almost slept in there this am.. Mike: The one thing that ALWAYS scares me, especially this time of the year is loosing the electricty while asleep or not home! Luckily, that is the one thing I can be grateful for. Pgde!!!! Now that is a bad dream you had! Oh wait, is that the real Macoy? Ice hanging from the fountain way down there in Tuscon? Your kidding, right?... What about your trees? How are they doing? Wow, and yet beautiful.. Unbeleivable... Love those pics Konrad. I'm with Joe, the stop sign made me laugh.

The bird pics are great.

Do you have a telephoto lens to get those bird pics? I don't have much luck with just my camera getting the birds. I'm probably not patient enough.

You got some really great story pics there, Konrad...Here in NE Ohio...We've only had a couple inches total this year...I love it being a little milder, but is kind of weird not having as much snow...It is pretty nippy now and for rest of winter(?)...

Waxwings are such pretty birds. I have seen real ones only one time in North Carolina. All the pictures are great.

We have waxwings down here, but they must be a different variety. We also have bohemians, ...just no bohemian waxwings.:)

They say, a birding lens should be at least 500 mm,...would be nice! The one used here, [from dear Santa] canon 70 - 200 mm F2.8 IS and 2X Extender, [not the first pic] going to my Rebel XT.
Not cheap, but you get what you pay for......clarity.

Really fantastic pic's . I never heard of a waxwing before. They sure are pretty and something I would like to see in my yard now and than.

What kind of lens did you have to use on these if it is not trouble for you to do so.
