What's the camera flash sound I'm hearing?
Comments (18)OMG!!! I had the same thing happen to me! I would hear the sound of a digital camera flash/capture (slow click sound) about every 5 - 10 minutes, or so!! Very scary!! 1 have 4 different computers in my home: I have 1 (IBM Thinkpad) laptop, which was the ONLY computer I used to go on line. The other 3 PCs (HP, Mac, Dell) have NEVER been connected to the internet - but do have a wireless that I disabled after I noticed the problem with the camera flash sound. ALL of my comptuers now make this sound!!! Just started happening in December 2008 and I've been looking for some information, or mention of someone with the same problem SINCE then. This is the first time anyone else has reported the same issue. >> When I checked the Device Manager and revealed all hidden devices, I noticed that there was a "Video Capture" controller, and some other wierd things that have never been there before: a bunch of controllers, terminal services keyboard, terminal services mouse, terminal services redirector, more video controllers, video capture devices, channels, pipes, some kind of message que process... ALL of which I never installed on my computer and I can't figure out when they became installed. After trying to disable the Video Capture controller, I noticed the camera sound went away, and NOW my CD drive makes a noise at the same approximate 5 - 10 minutes interval. SOMETHING is happening. I thought that I was really proficient with my computer, but I missed something and now I've been breached. I believe that my computer activities are being "captured," or photographed (maybe even video recorded) and are transmitted somewhere through one of the "secure" pipes that I discovered on my computer. I NEED HELP! I have a bunch of other related issues, but this was the start of everything. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. (No my camera isn't attached, no I didn't change the audio drivers yet, because I never changed them in the first place, and they've been working well until now.) I want to know WHY it has happened before I start to change what this "thing" has done. I need to understand it so that I can combat it. Comments (34)energy_rater: I am near St. Louis. Zone 5. We are known for hot humid summers that can reach over 100 degree in July and cold winters that do get below 0 degrees in Feb. I have seen your recommendations before and was using that as my bible for what I wanted done. But the GC has his idea's also. I found our bid for insulation, it is a two part bid, this does not look to be spray insulation: Exterior Walls and Firewalls (2x6): R19 kraft faced batts Fire walls (2x4): R13 kraft faced batts Walk out walls: R19 unfaced batts Bandboards: R19 unfaced batts Ventilation baffles at Eaves Accessible ceiling: R38 blown fiberglass TOTAL FOR THE ABOVE:....... 2,700.00 PLUS THESE ADDED OPTIONS: Upgrade attic to R49....$245 Air Seal Caulk/Foam Package.....$195 High Density Batt Option, Includes: ----R21 kraft faced batts in Exterior Walls & Firewalls(2x6) ----R15 kraft faced batts in Firewall (2x4) ----R21 unfaced batts in walk out walls ----R22 unfaced batts in Bandboards ----Air Seal Caulk/Foam Package.......Option total..$835.00 Great room/kitchen vault......$150 Sound walls with R13 kraft faced batts......(baths & laundry room areas)....$145 Garage Package w/ R19 kraft faced batts in exterior walls; R30 blown fiberglass in ceiling......$985 GRAND TOTAL FOR INSULATION costs for 2120 sq ft living space and 3 car garage......$5255. Side note: The condo, 1800 sq ft, we rented last winter, had a $500 electric bill one month. I think as a rule we had a monthly electric bill around $300. I think payback would add up quickly with those kind of bills. What are your thoughts?...See MoreQuestions for Flash407
Comments (2)Thanks for your sweet note! Originally the design was for that counter to be a bilevel counter as well. I really don't like bilevels; I think they cut down on surface area I use when entertaining. That corner I forsee to be used a lot when we have parties, setting up food and such. The one level gives me a lot more space. I know that you'll see dishes and such in the sink but it's a trade off I prefer. This is a weekend home that we plan on having lots of people come visit. I have space under the island for counter height bar stools; I envision getting some stools that I can tuck under, out of sight. The width is 45". If you go with a bilevel, I think it would work if you could have that upper level be wider than what my design allowed (I think 10-12"). There is one cabinet on the eating side; it has access to the corner that meets the wall. Does that make sense? You can kind of see it in this photo Anyway, good luck and if I can help anymore, just let me know! Comments (8)Cawaps, truly. Hallucinations? yes. I swear. I staved off Menopause for an extra 17 years or so by forcing my gyno to keep me on The Pill. Finally, at 57 she put her foot down and said, "No MORE!" I'm trying this new stuff, but frankly I have a hard time seeing through the sweat dripping in my eyes. Hence the hallucinations? At least this year my energy bills should be lower. Practigal, not that much extra flooring. I just finished laying reclaimed pine which I love. I don't mind the change in flooring so much. I haven't stained anything yet, but think I might be able to use some of my flooring's stain on the pine to tie it together some. Not yet thinking about that. As far as moving the island around? Probably. I move my base cabinets around when I need space or tops to work on. I am not confined to certain areas, but rather tasks have their area where they're preformed. I can't see an island with the peninsula, but without it seems to make more flow sense. The opening between peninsula and opposing cabinets is 36" already, but without the peninsula I'd have the 8'. Lensai, I have a lovely school house, close-to-ceiling light over my sink. I love it. I'm thinking if I could raise the pendants. I love them, too, so I'll have to think about this. I have to tell you, I've almost convinced myself to take out the peninsula. I have the cabinetry, so having to buy some isn't even an issue. If I could get some of the crap out of the way (read: everything on the counters) I'd take a picture. But right now I'm very, very lazy....See Morevickevette
