Oh my gosh no, there is no way I could ever fall asleep. I go regularly every six months, but I have been told I was the most nervous patient they ever had. I just dread it when I know the time is coming and I can't say they have ever really hurt me. I just don't like sharp things and drills in my mouth.

I don't fall asleep but I am pretty relaxed.I sort of daydream. I get tired during longer procedures. I don't fear needles but hate the after-effects of novacaine so I either go without when possible or ask for the least bit without the drug that makes it last longer added. I forget the name just now.

I'd never fall asleep, DH might though (he's fallen asleep in the middle of conversations before). I go every six months for a cleaning and check up. We have a very gentle hygienist so I don't mind it.

I have a friend who said he fell asleep during a root canal, he works long hours and doesn't get much sleep. I don't like to go either, makes me very edgy.

OH MY GOSH!!!...NO!!! I wish I could..but too much pain when they hit a nerve with that cold water!!!

And I hate going too!! Unfortunately, that time is right around the corner for me!

I never mind going to the dentist. I go at least twice a year for cleanings. When I had double dental insurance, I had my teeth cleaned four times a year. As an adult I have always had dentists I liked. Hated the dentist when I was a kid and didn't have a choice.

Yes, I fell asleep while the Dentist and Assistant left the room while I was waiting for the shot to take effect.

The Dentist and his Assistant are both good friends of mine and they came into the room cracking up laughing at me. They told me I was snoring. LOL! How's that for embarrassing?

I don't mind going to the dentist at all. That and the podiatrist are the only medical places i go where I don't have to get on the scales or take off any clothes.

I can't fall asleep - the bright light shining in my eye hurts my eyes something fierce. The Dentist doesn't make me nervous, and I actually love getting my teeth cleaned (I guess I'm vain about my teeth). I just hate the bright light. Plus, I'm a mouth breather, so the dentist's visits are actually pretty uncomfortable for me.

I'd rather give birth than go to the dentist, but I do go regularly because it's the healthy thing to do. Shudder.

The only way I would ever fall asleep is if they drugged me!

I can't imagine not going to the dentist for 10 years. It's not something I love but I love having my teeth nice and clean and it feels good. I would never be able to fall asleep though.

Oh he!! no I don't fall asleep. I'm stiff as a board when I go, and I don't go until I HAVE to, believe me. I had a mean dentist when I was a kid, and I've hated them ever since. Not personal, just in general.

I'm with you! The only way I fall asleep is to demand gas. I get sick just thinking about the dentist. I don't even like the smell in the dentist office. (from an ex nodak gal)

Guess I'm the odd one. I fell asleep while having my teeth cleaned, and woke myself up when I *snorted*. Was embarrassing, but made the hygienist laugh.

I've fallen asleep several times while having work done.

Mrsmarv, did you ever hear the joke about the lady who told hre Dentist she'd rather have a baby than have dental work done? He grinned and said, "Well...tell me which you prefer and I'll be glad to adjust the chair." ; )

Oh, I've never had a problem dosing off at the dentist's office. In fact, I usually do. DH, however, is extremely nervous and requests gas, even to get his teeth cleaned. LOL! Gotta love him.

I've never had a bad time in dentists' offices.

I had quite a lot of work done at the dental school about 3 years ago. When they were fixing the teeth that they were leaving, (planned to leave more, but ended up leaving only 3) and making my plates, I'm pretty sure that I went to sleep in the chair. Maybe more than once?

I had a gentle East Indian lady as "my" student.

I don't have trouble with the freezing, and it almost always seems to come out without trouble. They gave me a prescription for pain pills a couple of times but I didn't fill them and didn't have much discomfort.

My biggest "fear" so far...the dentists!...They always put that tray of torture instruments right in front of you, then leave the room for a minute.
A few years ago, a new dentist that I saw, told me that I needed my gums cleaned and scraped...ewww...He said that I would be given a sedative...I would feel "relaxed" during the procedure. That helped to know that.
The day of torture, ah, appointment...his assistant gave me a tiny cup of liquid to drink...tasted like cough syrup...right after swallowing it, the dentist walked in... and started the procedure...I said that I didn't feel any different...He assured me that I would soon feel relaxed...
What he didn't add to that was..."an hour from now"...About 30 minutes after returning home, I started to feel calm , went to bed and slept for hours.
