Someone mentioned the site in another thread. I pulled it up and have been browsing through the information there but can't seem to find any information about what it's going to cost me to use. Membership is free, but those books don't go traveling around the world without postage. Has anyone here used it and can you tell me kind of how it works and how much it usually costs to ship a book, both U.S. and Internationally (if you've done that)?

I have been a member for many years, it is totally free, the books travel around when you release them in the wild so there is no cost. I often release mine in hospital waiting rooms especially the ICU waiting rooms. You can use the labels from the site to put in the books so that people know it is a free book and hope they will follow the instructions and post on the bookcrossings site so everyone can follow it's journey. Not everyone does but a lot do.

To find books that have been released in your area you can go to the HUNT locations area on bookcrossings and look for your state and city to find any books in the wild and maybe it is one you want to go on the hunt for.
So the most it cost is for you to drop the book off somewhere, it can even be in a shopping cart at your grocery store. Airports are another good spot as well as doctor's offices.

When I do ship out my used books to friends I have always used the Media/Book rate at the post office which is quite cheap, takes longer but the price is much better.

I was thinking about a few names, Archie, Gilbert or Hector, but now you've added more names to the list! So which two should it be? Archie, Gilbert, Hector, Oscar or Felix? Do you know anything about Cayuga Ducks? I was thinking those may be a good fit for me considering they are suppose to be the quietest of the ducks, besides the Muscives (don't think that's spelled right). I really like thier coloring and think they might be the cutest things with two wings. I have done a lot of reserch, but it always helps to get advice from real owners! Thanks to you all in advanced!

It's a really lovely rose. After looking at it for 3 years now in the nursery, I finally planted two of them on a new arbor a few weeks ago. One of them has since sent out about 5 new basal canes, and they have not stopped blooming. I believe it's supposed to be a sport of Hermosa, and has those same wonderful flowers. Hermosa was a great, healthy rose for me in Texas, so I imagine if this is truly its climbing sport, it should do wonderfully for you in SC. --Ron

The double knockouts are really pretty roses. I have eight of the double red ones. Just that they need headheading if the blooms get goopey. Not unusual for the old blooms to get goopy. On the singles you don't have that problem. As far as old garden roses, first off many are once blooming. I need lots of bloom from my roses, not just a one a year thing. Otherwise I just feel there are so many better looking roses available these days that are such improvements over old garden roses. I do realise lots of people love them. To each his own. I would much rather have an old fashioned form in a modern lookalike.

I have the 8 cup version of this one at the link. Best feature: it drips into a thermal carafe. Keeps it hot for at least an hour or two, but I usually have consumed it before it gets cold. Thermal carafes don't overheat the coffee like coffee makers with a heating element under the pot. Plus, it turns off when it's done brewing so you never have to worry that you didn't turn off the coffeepot. I'll never go back to a coffee pot with a heater under the pot; the thermal carafe is THE way to go. Seriously. Plus you can take the pot anywhere you want in the house--back porch, bedroom, wherever--and the carafe will keep it hot for a good while. This pot has worked fine for five years or so, and when I have to replace it, it will be another pot with a thermal carafe. Maybe the Technivorm Moccamaster.
