Marlorena, anyone on this thread could you please share how Eustacia has done for you. I know we are not getting her in 2020 =(, but I can't wait to have her. I will def try Emily and Mill on the Floss, but keep thinking about Eustacia. Also I read on a Uk rose review site that The Mill on the Floss gets black spot, any comments on this? After seeing how amazingly healthy Olivia Austin is, I had great expectation for any new releases.

Welcome, Ben. Glad you joined our forum. Your yard looks like a great place for plants to grow. The pictures help a lot. My Japanese Maple has lots of roots, near the surface, of course that tend to stifle the hostas near it. I have just a couple within 5 feet of it and they would probably do a lot better if they weren't there. My Frances Williams is shaded by a large star magnolia and oaks. After many years, it has finally enough shade not to burn. It was the first hosta I bought. I didn't buy any more for a long time since I didn't want a lot of burned out plants in the yard. I also grow Linda Sue, a sport of Frances Williams, it is in a lot of shade and it still burns. It started out in dappled sun and I kept moving it deeper into the shade but even that doesn't help. My experience with ground covers is negative. I have ripped out tons of wild violets, ivy, vinca, lamium and that horribly invasive chameleon stuff. I have given up trying to tame ground covers. In my yard, they tend to overwhelm everything and I don't have the time or energy to keep hacking them back. I think that if you use pots then the hostas aren't overrun but otherwise they do require work. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

We are building in an old established neighborhood. We purchased the lot from friends of ours that live down the street. We sent a letter out to each of our neighbors within a block wide, and more. The letterhead had a drawing of our home with the address underneath. The body said the following. Dear Neighbors, We are excited about building our new home in your beautiful neighborhood. We understand that our construction may cause some inconvenience and noise over the next several months, so we would like to apologize in advance. If you have any questions about the house or construction, please give us a call or just stop by when you see us on the lot. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. Feel free to safely tour the house at any time. We signed off with our names and a phone number. You would not believe the responses we received! Everyone has been extremely friendly, complimentary, and curious. Our across the street neighbor is a retired architect. He has told us, and our friends, many times over how impressed he is with the building process. The construction has been going on for 9 months, with a few more to go. Once we are settled, we plan to have a get together and invite everyone over. Good luck! P.S. - I just got off the phone with a friendly neighbor. Hi @jstropic (10a) Thanks for responding to my post. Well, these guys have been uncovered for a while now and are not objecting to the sunlight even though they're on a south facing lanai. We’re moving into our first and second set of true leaves but they still seem leggy to me. I’ll keep an eye on the sun. I like their current location as its well away from other plants and soil so less chance of bugs and disease. We have 71 seedlings out of 74 seeds planted. I am going to have my work cut out for me!
