O Canada, O Canadians

I posted this on the Cooking Forum, but want to be sure our northern KT neighbors see it also.

Congratulations to you for giving the world such a wonderful Winter Olympics and for your record number of medals! We are very happy for you.

Two columnists for the Los Angeles Times were at the Olympics and wrote great closing columns I think you will enjoy. While Bill Plaschke usually covers sports, this column covers Canada:

One thing I really admire is when a Canadian won a gold, everyone sang their national anthem, while it seems like when US won gold, you could hardly here ours.
Just a thought--are we ashamed of ours?????

no don't think so... but you must remember it was mostly canadians in the audiences...and for one, i'm not ashamed of our national anthem...can't hit those high notes, but i try!

For awhile we thought we were going to be able to get CTV here in the northern tier of the US as we are so close to Canada and get so many Canadians coming down--but I don't know what happened. I guess the the Americans companies got their feelings hurt and stopped it. Too bad, I like alot of the the CTV programs especially the news.

We are huge hockey fans in this house, with having most of the grandsons playing as soon as they could walk and into college.....Of course our Pittsburgh Penguins have had a big influence on our family...I do agree, most Canadians love their hockey and produce excellent players....AND they also have one of the prettiest National Anthems......

Brad , I dont belong to a daylily society . There are two here The Canadian Daylily Society and The Ontario Daylily Society . I am not a member so doubt that I could post to either . There is also a facebook group but I dont do facebook ;. I did originally buy it in Canada but the gentleman I bought it from has since moved his gardens and is no longer listed on Charlotte's Daylily Diarly . I have tried tracking down all the daylily sellers here but so far no luck . There arent nearly as many daylily sellers here as in the US so not as daunting a job as it would be in the USA . I will continue to search , even if I have to import it , I will .......I can be like a dog with a bone when I really want something . Thanks for your suggestions . Oh by the way OOOF's parentage is (Bali Watercolor x (Purple Twiglight time x Malaysian Monarch ) if I cant find it I may have to find Purple Twilight Time ...I have the other two and just have to make my own LOL !

I love your national anthem, although I wouldn't even want to try singing it! Actually you have 2 of them, I've heard 2 different versions and they are both beautiful.

I received an email forwarded, written by Brian Williams, the NBC anchor who was thanking the Canadians. It was very good! It's nice that all the hard work that went into it was recognized, and *almost* everything went off without a hitch.
People were genuinely friendly to one another and it was remarked again today on tv how patriotic everyone was. Bursting into song at any opportunity.

FYI Vancouver is in withdrawal.....people miss the festivities, and depression is setting in!!!
