Found the Coolest Store

this past weekend.

We'd gone back to the 'old' neighborhood to do some shopping and meet DD for lunch along a little main street type place.

There was the most amazing shop. The walls were lined with silver crocks, with spigots. They had dozens of varieties/flavors of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Some were their own concoctions. There were tiny cups and cubes of bread so you could taste them. We only tried a few, having just come from lunch, and feeling pretty full. But I definitely want to go back and revisit the place. They even had a little tasting bar up a few steps from the main store. The varieties I tried were amazing. Have never seen a place like that before.

I would love a place like that! Nope never seen or heard of one either. We love bread and olive oil with spices for dipping.

Raven--keep an eye out. I was talking to a food critic last night, and he said olive oil stores are popping up all over these days, so perhaps one will show up in your area sometime soon. I'm especially excited now, because my editor gave me the green light to interview the owners for a column--that's not what I usually do (I'm not a reporter, I just do the occasional recipe column)--am really looking forward to it!

As Aegis said, maturity affects a leaf's appearance but the type will not change. One problem, I think, is that the description of the plant when it is being registered is the growers. Some hybridizers are not as well-versed as others in types of foliage and blooms and may decide that their plant has girl foliage when it does not. But, then the plant must adhere to the description in FC. I would not say this is girl foliage. Some other judges may disagree. It is a lovely plant, girl or not. Linda

I'm not a big fan of red roses for some reason, but these charmed me. I'm going to plant them in the ground and see what happens. They were less than $2 per plant so they'll be a bargain if I can keep them alive 🤞🙂

The newest Whole Foods in my area has an section dedicated to this type of olive oil and balsamic options.

how strange you mentioned this..we had one in out "downtown", but i guess the locals wern't into olive oil, ect...they lasted less than a year..it might have been a location, too..lots of traffic, but NOT foot traffic...

We had an O & Company store (sister to L'Occitane) for a while, but it didn't make it.

If you're referring to the shop in Haddonfield NJ I've been there too. They also have one in Ardmore and West Chester, PA.

You can also order from them online but it's so much more fun to taste the different ones and then take a bottle or two home. I always enjoy browsing in all the little shops there. My DD and I stop in the English Gardener to buy some hard-to-find foods for her British BF.

Nope, Maire--it's the one that opened in Dec. in Collswood--Blue Moon--it's about 2 doors from the Pop Shop. I imagine, with how culinary-upscale Collswood has become, it's a good location for this kind of store.

Oh that's good news - that's another one of my favorite places to 'lunch'. I'll have to check it out the next time we head in that direction.

we have one in town, i've never stopped in. I can't believe they can stay in business. I guess I'll have to go check it out. lol

Those tasting style stores are all over Southern California, I went to one on Coronado Island in San Diego and it was great~~~winery's/ brewery's are every where also. They will pick you up at your hotels~~so you can booze it up.
