Low-Hassle Match-Making Menu?

We're having some friends for dinner this weekend. No, we're not cannibals, so let me rephrase. We're having some friends over for dinner. The purpose is to introduce two friends to their favorite winemaker, and to introduce the (single) winemaker to a (single) woman.

As an aside, does anyone notice a distinct shortage of single male friends? We know lots of great single women, but not a lot of single guys to introduce them to. (Speaking only of heteros here, when it comes to gay friends the reverse is true - more unattached men than women).

Anyhow, I need to think of something to make for this match-making dinner. The Two Guys are omnivorous foodies, the Winemaker will probably bring some of his wine (reds - pinot noir, cabernet s, or barbera most likely), and I don't know Single Woman's tastes.

Option one is something Asian. Maybe simmered or steamed fish w/ a sauce, sticky rice and chicken wrapped in leaves (nuo mi ji), a couple of stir-fry dishes, lychee ice cream. Not sure how well these really go w/ Oregon pinot. Maybe I'll buy a bottle of mao tai and really give them the Chinese experience (actually, I hate the stuff).

Option two is something Western. My mind is blank here. No pasta (waistline considerations). Nothing ungraceful to eat or that gets stuck in your teeth (singles on the make). Nothing prone to spilling when drunk (ditto). Nothing too expensive or too elaborate, or that I'm likely to botch.

My main goal is a low-hassle menu that lets me participate in the meal, instead of running back and forth to the kitchen to cook each course a la minute, plate, and serve. I've been doing a lot of the second kind of meals lately, and would like to actually see my friends this time.

I would appreciate any suggestions you have!
