finished bathroom pictures

so, I went with a dark beige, almost brown. I like it and am glad it's not pink.

BUT, I painted the area above the sink basically in the dark because I took the old sconces down first. And now with the new sconces up, when the lights are on it shows a lot of scratches in the wall I should have spackled and sanded better. Would you go back and fix it or just forget about it?

If it was me, it would really bug me every time I turned the lights on and saw the imperfections. I have a similar situation in a laundry room area and it bugs me every time I see it.

For some, patching/spackling, and sanding to perfection seems to be easy, but I have just not mastered the technique, no matter how hard I try.

This is just a thought...are the lights by any chance reversible where you could have them shining down as opposed to 'up'? How might that look? Are there also wall imperfections below the lights too though?

If you think you are capable of getting the walls to look better and have the time now, I'd say 'go for it'. If not, I'd put it somewhere on my 'sometime in the future' to-do list.

yeah, pointing the lights down would help and also prevent bugs from dying in there - lol!

I thought the existing placement of the fixtures looked too low to have the new ones point down.

Probably going to be on the list of stuff to do sometime in the future but never gets done!

Wooo!!! Cat, I am stuck at home because of the snow storm so wandered around here not looking at anything in particular and came upon your thread. I totally agree with you on the shower curtain choice. Regardless of whether I have the money to spare or not, keeping those suckers clean is a nuisance over time. We have a glass shower door that was installed back in 2003 and I can't tell you how much I hate cleaning it. Not that the door is all that dirty, but a shower curtain is way easier, and you can change the look/style whenever you feel like it. Can't do that with a pricey shower door. Anyway, everything looks lovely as usual, including the "prom" dress :-) Love, love those circular tiles, and the floor tiles that look like fabric. Gorgeous. What colour is that again? It looks greyish on my monitor.

thanks so much for all your compliments. There really are flaws, but if you don't see them, then I am not telling ...lol I am so angry at myself for not taking before pictures. My original bath was SMALL, like 6 by 8. We took out a bedroom. (It was a spare bedroom, that we never used except to store crap. We still have 2 extra bedrooms upstairs, besides our master. We are empty nesters, and even when the kids come home, we have plenty of sleeping room, just not enough bath space for eveyone to get ready at once. We also took out a chimney that was no longer needed, but thankfully we were able to keep the laundry shoot! Our new bath size is approx. 12 by 22. We also went into the top of the stairs landing space for some extra space. Which meant redo of the upstairs landing area. The paint color was bought at a local hardware store, and it is Valspar-sentimental yellow. I had chips behind those mirrors during the whole process, making sure of the color in different light, and after going back and forth way too many times, finally decided on the sentimental yellow. There are shower tiles facing the shower door. All subways with a green trim border closer to the top. I hope I answered eveyones questions. Again thanks for all the compliments, my husband will be proud.

Flyleft, Wolfgang80 and Dedtired - (1) My bathroom was original to 1926 so the faucets were on the same wall with the hot and cold handles across from one another and a diverter in the middle. The tub spout is in the same location and I had a shower arm at the top at about the level where the tile is now. As I gutted my bathroom, I was able to decide where I wanted the new volume and temperature controls. I decided I didn't need a separate fixed shower arm, and by using separate volume controls I didn't need a diverter (less expensive than installing a diverter). (2) Re my toilet, there aren't any issues with access, unless a pipe breaks behind the wall. My last flushometer worked for about 80 years (except for an occasional servicing by my super)so hopefully this one will last for awhile. (3) mltifctdbikrchc - I like that, although I have enough trouble with bikrchc. You wouldn't know I have a motorcycle by looking at me (plus I worked for an accounting firm for almost 20 years) Of course, the rest of my apartment is an absolute mess now.

Wow, that is stunning! I love the shine on the tile, it glows like polished marble or stone. Very, very pretty. I noticed you have a magnifying mirror that extends out from the wall. I want one of those but always wonder about how to place it for the best use. Where does the light come from in this room, is it a ceiling fixture? Is it good at helping highlight stray hairs at the browline? Thanks in advance! -EChic

Your bathroom looks really nice with the new paint. I would have never thought to use the color you chose, but since you were trying to stay away from pink, it works. It certainly updated the room.

I thought the existing placement of the fixtures looked too low to have the new ones point down.
But it might make it look cozy too. Google images shows a lot of different heights. I think something to consider too, is if they were pointed down, you would want the bottom of the fixture below eye level so you wouldn't see the glare.

The wall tile trim is so pretty too.

I would live with it as it is and see how much it bothered me before doing anything.
