I have the English version, it came over with my cabinets. I believe the only difference is the overflow holes. We've been in the house 2yrs and I haven't had any problems with the sink. I use white vinyl sink grids for protection and clean it with Soft Scrub.

Thanks for the pictures and links. Is there a reason there is not more discussion of this sink vs Rohl etc? Are they harder to get or not as good?

You're welcome. I have no idea....only recall reading maybe one or two others having a V&B fireclay sink since becoming a member. I did not compare to other fireclay's since I had seen several V&B's elsewhere and liked them.

You might want to ask about Franke as mentioned. We ordered a Franke - but it came in a Villeroy and Bosch box with the sticker of both names on the inside. My guess is they are the same thing? If I hadn't seen the box though I would not know that's what it was.

Haven't used it yet. I really wanted a double bowl. I saw one in person and like it so that's what we got.

We have a Franke one (made by Villeroy and Bosch). We've been using it for almost 1 yr and are VERY happy with it. We chose it over the Shaw's (Rohl) one because it has square bottom corners (slightly easier to scribe for installation, although it was still a challenge for our cabinet installer) and because it is not as deep. And it's significantly less expensive!

Does Franke import the V&B?

I have the Frank Orca fireclay, which is made by Villeroy & Boch. I've had it for 6 months. No problems, very easy to clean. I've never used anything to clean it but liquid dish soap and a soft sponge, and no signs of cracks or chips. I do have a grate on the bottom of the sink. It's beautiful.

A few years ago, when I was first looking at sinks, I really liked the more square shape of the Franke sink. They weren't selling the V & B model then (that i ever saw), but the Franke had the company name printed right on the front apron of the sink. I wanted a plain front, so I decided against that sink, and got the very lousy Porcher American Standard London farm sink, because the price was good, and it had the same square shape. It chipped/pitted like crazy after 18 months of gentle use (all over the front top lip where it is very noticible) and the company basically said "too bad for you."

While looking for a new sink last year, I found the V & B version. I liked it (was still trying to avoid the curves of the Rohl), but the top edges were thinner than the Rohl. After my chipping issues with the Porcher, I wanted the biggest, toughest lips/edges I could find. So I went with the Rohl.

Btw, my Rohl is very wonky and crooked, so not without issues. To install it looking mostly level, it won't fully drain! Ah, the price of beauty! (Tho not everyone has this problem.)

I have a real love/hate relationship with fireclay sinks. Or maybe I should say that I love them, but they hate me!

I have two Franke V&B fireclay sinks--24" and 28". One is installed farm style and the other as an undermount. No problems, but they have been in less than a year. I don't use a grid or anything on the bottom. I got a great price on Amazon.com at the time of purchase.

We bought a Franke Villeroy and Bosch fireclay sink because it was the only one we found that was 24" wide and had an integral faucet shelf, and because it wasn't as deep as most of the others. We've been using it for about three years. We're not particularly careful with it and it has no scratches or other marks. It cleans up nicely with Barkeepers Friend.

Sounds like there are no issues with Franke V&B sinks.

Love mine! I spot clean any odd little scratches from cookware with a very light swipe of baking soda and water. Comes off perfectly!!

/I have a V&B double bowl kitchen sink, in black. it is stunning. probably 70/30, it is undermounted and 37.5 inches, needed a 42" cabinet to hold it. Love my sink. I can put the stove grids inside it. It can take a 12" pan with handle. Was installed in summer 2019. My counter tops are often cluttered, I love t cook, But when the counters a cleaned and the sink polished it is stunning. Love my sink.
