best fireclay sink?

I'm considering a fireclay sink, possibly apron front, and i'd like one that is easy to keep clean-- really smooth corners. Does anyone have a recommendation?

does anyone regret their fireclay sink? this will be my first one-- always has stainless steel.

Shaw- made in England, distributed by Rohls.
Many here prefer this sink. They are really thick and have a great rep. The cons are: they are backordered, and they need to be carefully measured onsite by the cabinet maker because they hand made.

Having lived with two copper sinks in the kitchen for over two years (main sink and a prep sink), here is my $0.02 from real-world experience: * We still love our copper sinks today! * Maintenance is simply soap and water. About once a month we apply some wax we got with the sinks - takes about a minute. My stainless steel sinks required more maintenance... * Occassionally something acidic gets in the sink, but as pillog points out, they darken right back up. The finish on copper is oftentimes referred to as a "living finish" and that is true - it has it's own personality. * Unlike what pillog says above, these sinks do not turn green... * For a kitchen sink, the gauge is really important. I have at least a half dozen friends with copper sinks and can say first hand that thickness matters. Especially with the beating a kitchen sink takes with pots and pans. Ours are the thicker 14 gauge (Copper Sinks Online) and are built like a tank. Very few companies sell this thickness. I have seen thinner and I have a few friends wishing they hadn't tried to save $100 and ended up with a much thinner sink. * Read the article in the link below. It is one of the best I have found. * The category of copper sinks can be confusing because there are so many different companies, quality levels, online "misinformation", etc.. I recently bought a copper tub, sink and faucets from Copper Sinks Online and they are still awesome. Many on this forum over the years have had a very positive experiences with them as well. @Deana I totally get It! I have my drying dish rack in my sink so it actually ended up working out better for me. I wash on the left, I also have a small tv under my left cabinet to watch while I’m washing dishes and I put the clean dishes to the right. I do have to take out the rack and rinse out the entire sink since food does stay under the dish rack (which rests on top of the grid) but it’s not a big deal at all. It is also convenient having the drain on the side when I wash my dishes that have touched raw meat. Im a nut job when it comes to cross contamination so it worked out wonderfully. The grid also helped with that because the dish rack is resting on top and I carefully pour out the raw juices through the drain hole and no dirty water touches the grid/dish rack/dishes. Love everything about it. My sister has had the single bowl Franke for a few years now and she loves it! Have you seen the Rohl and the Franke in person? My husband and I made our decision after seeing them in person. Sales person said we can’t go wrong with either one but the look and feel of the Rohl definitely won us over.

My full size sink came from Blue Bath. It's two years old. No problems. I drain spaghetti water, and everything you'd dump in a sink. I did end up buying a grate but it's not the one for the sink I have. I saved about a hundred bucks buying one the size I needed but the drain hole is not exactly over the sink drain. It still works just fine. I am not a June Clever cook. Anything that survives me will survive you. I never use anything other than baking soda to clean it. The Shaw's is definitely the one that gets the most attention here, and very few complaints. Most are with difficulty of install because of its rounded curves and because they're all uniquely a little wonky (which is true of all fireclay sinks). I think the second brand that seems to get mostly good reports is Franke (with their fireclay sinks made by Villeroy and Bosch). They are a bit less expensive, and their dimensions are different, so they are good to compare and see what you like best.

Do a search using "fireclay" and you'll probably find a bunch of threads, with some good, some bad...

We got a Franke, about a year ago, and no regrets!

I have a Franke fireclay sink although it's a double bowl not an apron front. I haven't had it very long but so far I love it. The fireclay sinks are supposed to be more resistant to scratches, stains, and chips and are therefore more $$$. I bought it for these reasons since I wanted it to look nice for a long time.

What about the incredible bargain fireclay 36" farm sink at Ikea? Not only is it $300, it's front to back construction means that there is 6 square feet of granite that doesn't have to be purchased for the cut out for the sink. It has a beautiful feel to it also.

We have a Rohl Allia white double basin undermount sink sitting in the box in our living room :-) It was made in Limoges, France. It is gorgeous and feels exquisite. It's quite heavy and well-made. It was about $575 or so purchased from a local kitchen design shop. Fireclay is very easy to take care of.
