recipes needed!

for cole slaw dressing. Also, I just bought one of those big roasters and plan to do the turkey in it to free up oven space. Any directions/reccomendations? Any recipes to do the turkey "right"? Thanks!

My "recipe" for cole slaw dressing is pretty simple: Miracle Whip, a little milk, sugar to taste and celery seed.

I don't care for vinegar-based cole slaw dressing so this is what I use and we like it.

No advice for your roaster, tho....sorry.

No advice on the roaster here either.

Lindac's cole slaw is excellent if you like a vinegar based slaw.

Cole Slaw, Fred Harvey's

Shred one medium head of cabbage and one medium onion ( use the 1 mm slicing blade on the Cuisinart)
Add 1/2 c. sugar
Heat together 1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp dry mustard
1/2 cup peanut oil ( I use canola)
1/2 c cider vinegar
1 tsp celery seed
Pour over cabbage, stir and let sit at least 4 hours

Linda's notes:
I sometimes add black pepper and green pepper.
You can triple the recipe and only need to double the dressing.

Hi NancyLouise, I'll tell you, I have never owned the book. My best friend's mom did. I found the recipe back in the mid 90's and not writing it down at that moment, called her the next day and wrote it on the lp jacket of one of the records of my Bruce Springsteen 3 record boxed set. The 80's to 90's collection. :) My life was chaotic with lots of toys around, and it's the first bit of paper found at the moment I needed it. It stayed folded in another recipe book for years and then was lost in a move. While I love a regular Yankee Pot Roast, ohhh there's just somethin' different about the scent of this one. The cider, the vinegar, the mushrooms. Truly, it is a tried and true, never let you down, ta-da recipe. RECIPE: Need Recipes for Venison Roasts

It's been awhile since I fixed a venison roast but remember that I used a baking bag. Season the roast with greek seasoning and put strips of bacon over the top of the roast. Place in baking bag and bake at 325 degrees or lower until a fork will easily pierce the meat. Slower baking temp seems to make for more tender meat. This makes good chopped barbacue if after baking you chop and add you favorite sauce. Good luck!

Fiber one is good. It has 10 gr. dietary fiber in a 1/2c. serving. i use it to bread chicken, eggplant, string cheese,etc. I make a Breakfast smoothy with frozen berries, All Bran, light soy milk and a Tbs. of sugar free vanilla pudding mix. Tastes like icecream. Have one of those for breakfast and you are a third of your way to your recomended(most people) daily amount of fiber

There's only one way to roast a turkey.... BRINE IT FIRST!!!!!

If you've not tried Alton Browns method for roasting a turkey, you're missing out. Just run a search on the web using "good eats roast turkey".

Yes, it's a bit time consuming, but your hard work will be rewarded. Follow the instructions EXACTLY (minus the candied ginger, everyone leaves that out) you will have the finest roasted bird you have ever tried.
