Plywood vs. MDF

Just a pondering I suppose...

My Kitchen Cabs were made by P&F until I met a cabinetmaker I have worked with a couple years later.

He was just here onsite. Doing some measurements of some cabinetry I want made...sink base for farmhouse sink for laundry room, custom cabs/shelving to go under the sink, etc.

He's all MDF. MDF is flatter, more stable, venner matching, etc. I can't recall the kitchen cabs he was showing me on his iPad, but I suppose maybe it's al MDF (NYC is contemporary town with flat panels, etc). The pics he was showing me was highly polished lacquered cabs.

Fast forward to this THS post. Are ya'll a NO MDF rule and it's either got to be plywood or hardwood for your stuff. This can apply to kitchen cabs or just custom cabs in general....
