Was at the ER till 2:30AM this morning

DH has had pain in his lower abdomen and been feeling nauseated for over 4 days. He couldn't sleep or eat for the last 2 days. It had been a steady pain. We thought it might be food poisoning or the flu, but it wouldn't go away. And he had no other flu like symptoms. He was getting worse and the pain got really bad last night. It was in the right lower part of his abdomen.

We first went to a doc-in-the-box at 8PM. That cost two hundred dollars - for nothing! That DR was the one that said it might be appendicitis and sent us to the ER for CT scan. He said it is the only definite way to tell for sure. We were at the ER from 9PM to 2:30AM, mainly waiting. They did another exam and the CT scan. They didn't do the test till after midnight and we didn't get the result till 2:30. It turned out to be nothing. From the results of the blood test it looks like he has a virus. With our insurance there are no co-pays but we pay everything until we reach a deductible of $1800 for each person. We definitely reached that with last night. So the only good thing is DH won't have to pay for anything the rest of the year once we write a check to the hospital for that amount.

With all that pain it must have been a really bad flu bug. The funny thing is he had no vomiting or diarrhea like you get with the flu, just the pain. I think it stress. Since the layoff, these last 2 months have been killers. I know it has been killing me and last night was another nail in the coffin. I really don't know how much more I can take before I am the one in the ER. Sorry, it is the lack of sleep speaking. And one more thing, this morning he says the pain has gone away.
