What the heck do you do with all

your old software discs?

I have software piled up here for computers we haven't even had for 10 years or more.

And how do I figure out which software (recovery discs) are for the four computers we do still have/use?

mine are piled probably in a similar manner. heck, i still have the old computers downstairs, manuals, discs and whatnot that they need. i haven't cleaned them out to recycle or trash, so there they sit.

as for the discs, i'm so glad i haven't tossed any, because there was an occasion i certainly needed to reinstall things.

i think to figure out what discs belong, check your system and manual against those discs and mark them and put all the others aside.

i saw once someone created a beautiful mosaic from all the aol and other provider discs that they were recycling. interesting concept if you are creative. if you google "recyling old computer discs" you wouldn't believe how many ideas come up.

If I know it's software that I'm not using and won't use, I throw it in the trash. A lot of that older stuff won't even work on the newer computers.

I mulch all of my flowerbeds and veggie beds with grass clippings my neighbor provides. He collects them the first month or so of the season. This month the clippings were mixed with fall leaves he had missed and heated up nicely where he dumped them behind my fence. I added a lot of this batch to the compost bins...have 7 working right now. Peggy

I have been there and done that. Your board sounds like a slightly-less-twisted version of the board in my former condo building. You really have to weigh what is most important to you. Are you willing to fight these lunatics on every. single. point. until. the. end. of. time??? If so, then stay and/or buy another unit in this same complex. If you think they'll eventually let up, DON'T! You have described an association that is either too intimidated or too apathetic to get involved. The board, as it is now, has little or no chance of changing because the other homeowners just do not care enough to get involved. My choice in this circumstance was to get the he!! out. I made it just in time, too. Just after the sale of my unit, the association slapped everyone with a $5,000-$10,000-per-unit special assessment (much of which they pocketed). They became involved in lawsuit after lawsuit, some of which continue to this day. Who pays for that? The homeowners, of course. Payment of legal fees comes out of their association fees. It's your decision to stay or leave. But after reading your story, I sense that in a few more months, you'll be where I was two years ago.

I am having to post this from another computer and Konqueror browser. Since the appearance of the strange characters I can not click on any of the options at the top of the main pages on any GW forum including the create new post none of them are clickable on any forum. Also I can not post a reply here on this thread because the entire reply box has somehow become linked to the brackets square link that is in ccdrys post right up above this one. If I click in the reply box it immediately goes right to the google page in his link. I have let Tamara know of this, if anyone else is having these problems please post about it and let them know using the contact us button. I can not access them using my Linux with firefox, windows 7 laptop with firefox, but can access them with my Android tablet and Android smartphone, and I can access it using Linux with the Konqueror browser. So knowing what does and does not work would be helpful. Everything was working fine till the appearance of those strange characters.

2 lb half pork round- what the heck do I do with it?

I didn't know what a pork round was, so looked it up and found these instructions. It sounds like it should be cooked like any pork roast. This is the recipe I found, but you can just season it with salt and pepper if you wish and serve with apple sauce.: Makes 8 servings Ingredients: 1.2 kilograms pork roast, inside round Seasoning ingredients: 1 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 1 large clove garlic, crushed 1 teaspoon rosemary 1 teaspoon thyme 1/2 tsp. ground paprika 1 tsp. olive oil Vegetables: 2 medium carrots sliced 2 small turnips, diced Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 325Â°F. 2. in a small bowl, combine the seasonings ingredients and then rub the mixture evenly into surface of pork round roast. 3. Place pork round roast, fat side up, on rack in shallow roasting pan. 4. Add Â¼ cup water- cover roast. 5. After 90 minutes remove cover 6. Cook in the oven for about 2 1/2 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 140Â°F for medium-rare or 155Â°F for medium. 7. Remove pork round roast from oven and tent loosely with aluminum foil. 8. Let stand 15 minutes prior to carving into slices.

I make them into coasters. For some, I crochet a circle to fit the disc, then use the glue gun to stick them on the unprinted side. For others I make a "fitted" cover that can actually be slipped off and washed. My husband is in the graphic business and likes to give these to some of his clients. They usually think they're pretty cool, or maybe they think he's crazy. That's all right, he's an artist.
